It doesn't matter if you get 100pts, if you end up in the Europa cup.
Since I have a bit of free time I did some messing around with Excel just for fun. And the short answer is no. Even though this is a very Spursy result, it can't possibly happen.
As unlikely as it can be, the point ceiling for coming 5th is 98 points. The math is simple: if Spurs win against all teams and tie the top 4 home and away, we'll have 8*1 + 30*3 = 98. If we win against a top 4 team, says Woolwich, then we by default ends up higher than Woolwich. The season this happens we will probably going to win the league by goal differences.
But then it turns out we CAN get 100 points and still get in Europa and not CL. Suppose exactly the same scenario played out but we beat Chelsea home and away, which means Chelsea finishes fifth.
Which is a scenario we sadly all know too well.
It's been fun. All these questions can be solved with simple algebra but it's way more fun playing with the spreadsheet and plugging in numbers to suppose PL scenarios. If anyone wants the excel file let me know. I can also code in results by goals and show goal differences but that's a bit more difficult and will have to wait (and someone probably already did this but who cares).
also can someone please change the Caps in the title thanks
