Can Spurs actually get 100 pts and still finish fifth?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Maybe we need a "MATHS" thread prefix.

LOL

Seriously though, the league is quite strong now, so I would expect anyone who gets 100 points to win the league by at least 10 points. I don't have any numbers to back this up though.

Whilst I don't think it is a possible scenario, if there WAS a situation where the first club in history to reach 100 points STILL finished outside the Top 4, then you can bet your hypothetical, stat-induced butt-crack it would be us!!!

After all, if anyone can, Spurs can!!!

Yep, totally agree, it would only happen to us!! I bet the CL scenario that happened to us year before last won't ever happen again........ unless it involves us, of course!!

Speaking of incredibly high points tallies and stupidly uncompetitive leagues, How many points will Real Madrid and Barca drop between them this season? I'm going with 14 because I think the clasicos will be draws.

Has Zin written one post in relation to the OP? Odd.

MTV generation? Personally, I dont even have a tv, and havent for the last 3.5 years....I still think stats are bullshit though. Or not bullshit, just meaningless.

If we win all our games, we will win the PL.....great. Cheers for that.

There aren't even any statistics in the OP, so it can still be intelligble to sammy. There's not even analysis, inference, or anything. Chill, everyone. Go watch Sky and get wound up over how the Greatest League Ever will begin presently.

@ jet jet made perfectly clear what the goal of the OP was. @ Mr Always Right Mr Always Right said that scoring 100 points was meaningless if it still got you the EL. So the question was simple: "is it possible for a club to score 100 points and still fail to qualify for the CL?"

The answer is a very, very qualified "yes". @ jet jet then shows us what level of ridiculousness has to happen in order for that to be the case. Was Mr Always Right being hyperbolic? I'm sure that a person with such loyal, decades-long service to THFC would typically not veer into hyperbole where his club is concerned, but it seems like he slipped up here.

And that's that. Just a little exercise. Just a little something people do as they get excited for the season.

Precisely but don't let common sense get in the way of a good old fashioned baiting from the forum jester.

I was referring to people who don't read a post just grab a sentence and go off on a tangent, MTV generation probably the wrong term for that.

I'm far from the MTV generation but the op is basically a bbc league predictor at fantasy levels & doesn't really show anything bar someone can do his 3 times table ( apologies op )

... and everyone's getting their knickers in a twist about this why?

It was a throwaway comment in another thread which actually instilled some degree of curiosity in me (and probably others) - so somebody did the Maths to come up with an answer. I don't get the hate..
