Dean Smith sacked: 15th
Gerrard finished: 14th

Yeah it really hasn’t been a success so far. I have some sympathy because clearly he’s not had too much time to work with (Nor has Conte but we know he’s in a different league) and he’s dealing with a bit of an unbalanced squad.

Their PPG was up a bit. They’ve looked good in some games, awful in others. Worth a full season I’d say but full backing? Dodgy. Villa could really struggle if they get lumbered with a few more flops on big wages.

Does this look right for our current squad?

Clarke no longer U21 - Surely one for the chopping block!

Association trained: Davies, Doherty, Rodon, Austin , Sessegnon, Clarke, Foster
Club trained: Kane, Winks, Tanganga, Whiteman, CCV, Skipp

Foreign: Royal, Bergwijn, Dier, Højbjerg, Lloris, Lo Celso, Moura, Ndombele, Reguilón, Sánchez, Son Heung-min, Romero, Golini, Kulusevski, Bentancaur

U21: excluded from squad count (Gil, Sarr)

Total : 27 (up to 25)
HOMEGROWN : 13 (min 8)
FOREIGN : 14 (max 17)

Keen to see how Paratici deals with the outgoings. I can’t imagine Ndombele is an easy sell. Fuck knows what we will get for him. He really is an idiot. He has so much natural talent but throws it away by being a lazy cunt. Any club will be mad taking him on tbh.

Reguilon will be an easy sell. So will Lo Celso. I imagine Winks will be off to a club down the table. Bergwijn is good but doesn’t look like a Conte player - he’ll be an easy sell. Are we keeping Doherty and Royal? I don’t think either should be starters and is there really a place for both if that’s the case? CCV looks set to join Celtic.

Rodon will probably be loaned out, I can see us keeping Sanchez and using him as a back up. He gets a lot of shit but he’s improving - are we likely to find someone better, at his age and with his potential who will be happy to sit on the bench? Probably not. Fingers crossed we can bring Bastoni in. A back three of Bastoni, Romero and Dier gives me a semi.

I’m pretty sure we’ll end up with the best part of £100m, maybe a bit more from outgoings. Fingers crossed.

Phillips is overrated
The real Phillips is last season's version, the form that took him into the England team. He was as good, if not better, than Rice at the Euros. Didn't look out of place against Germany, Italy etc. He's one of those that does all the simple stuff so well, not flashy like Bissouma, but can pick a pass.

I think now is a good time to buy. He's likely to be underrated in the transfer market, because he's had a season marred by injury, because Leeds are struggling, and that clueless Ted Lasso dude at Leeds doesn't know how good he is. Next season he'll be running the midfield again, just a question of where.

Absolute scenes on here in September when we end the window with Forster and Eriksen in, Berg, Rodon, Royal, Reggie, GLC out, Winky and Ndombelly still here like new signings and Levy taking home a £150m bonus for the year...

Bissouma's on bail until 6 June (which I think is a day in court). So can't se him moving before then - too much risk
Bissouma has been released with on going further investigation

His associate has been bailed until the 6th June and neither would that be his court date

If one wanted to apply a bit of guess work and extrapolate it suggests his associate is the main offender

It is still early days in the window and if there is this situation hanging over Bissouma and he doesn’t move before July and also we haven’t signed a midfielder then I think we can start joining the dots. But now, it’s far too early to know what will happen with him.

He's playing for his big move this year. 1 very good season. When he gets his move and big money, is that going to motivate him or will he put his feet up? I'm not sure. Could easily go badly.
I think he's a bad 'un.

Re football, strikes me as the sort that would see us as a stepping stone to Real or Barcelona. For Brighton? He turns up when he wants. And that's not the fault of Potter, he's regarded as a very good man manager. So no mismanagement there.

I reckon they've known full well that they'd be selling him at the end of the season for megabucks and have a short list of much cheaper replacements.

He'll play out of his skin against the big clubs, esp in the CL. Forget about a wet Tuesday at Molineux.
