Im not sure what looking glass your taking us through but my (i thought obvious) point was referring to the trauma of Chelsea constantly gazumping our first choice targets1519 Girolamo Mei, Italian historian and editor of Greek texts, born in Florence (d. 1594)
If he hadn't died in 1594 he would have been 503 today.
Probably not.
'probably not'?Probably not.
Toured Brazil with a Spanish speaking friend. Evidently, there’s enough difference in the language to make Portuguese pretty tricky for Spanish speakers and vice versa. Contrary to what you might think, Spanish isn’t widely spoken in Portugal (or Brazil)
I can see his concern about Bastoni, which is why Gvardiol is my no. 1 LCB option (but RB Leipzig seems to be very reluctant to sell him). But I also trust Conte & Paratici on this one.
Inter fan here
I think this deal has a good chance of going through.
However, while I love the player and would support him should he move, I'm not convinced Bastoni will succeed in England. He plays in a very Italian manner and I think Serie A compliments him perfectly while England may expose some weaknesses. Despite his size he's also pretty soft for a center back. He needs to be much nastier. Off the pitch, he's also very much an Italian boy through and through. Based on my experiences following Italian players over the past decades I think there's a good chance he might be the type to have trouble adapting to life in England.
I don't want to come across as salty because we're losing an immense prospect but this is my honest view on the player. Like I said, should he join Spurs I'll be supporting him.
I know this is the Bastoni thread but I just want to say that I suspect you'll be linked to yet another one of our players in de Vrij (if you haven't been already). I'm very confident in that. I suspect there will be Man Utd speculation too.
de Vrij has a year left on his contract and Inter do not want to extend him. In fact, he's coming off easily the worst season in his Inter career but I believe it's due to the contract situation (we initially began talks to renew then withdrew). I also believe that there's still an excellent player there, IMO significantly better than Dier. Sometimes you see a player struggle and you just know they need a change of scenery and a fresh start. That's how I feel about Stefan. The club has not handled his extension well at all and coming off a poor season, he would be available at a lower price than normal.
His replacement in Bremer is nearly secured too and from what I've seen of Dier and Davies, I think you guys need a middle CB far more than an LCB. I think de Vrij represents an excellent opportunity for Conte and I expect him to request the player.

Nah, I’m just saying that there’s a 90% chance that he didn’t speak Spanish as a result of growing up in Portugal
If we ever need to make a late defensive sub to see out a 1 goal lead or something he'd be a fantastic choice. Is Tarkowsky suitable for the Dier/backup CB role? If so that might be a handy one to bring in on a free/HG while shifting out Rodon who needs to be refreshed.
