These random twitter users know fuck all. I don’t think those should be posted here.
They are dishonest, mostly following lots of journos on twitter, maybe looking at betting markets, then making their guesses. The Athletic for example said good chance of Eriksen coming, that it's between us and Brentford, so this guy has just figured out he can call it now. If he's wrong, it's easy to come up with some made up crap about why things changed.

People close to these deals are not going to leak to some random kid on twitter.

If Sterling came available, I’d go heavy for him. Flexible in playing position, homegrown, only 27, and already top 25 ever in PL goals scored. He’s been genuinely one of the best players in the league over the last decade. And he’s still young.

Busy couple of weeks ahead I reckon.

From what I’ve read, players are expected back for start of preseason in two weeks. I can’t imagine Paratici or Conte will want major signings made in the middle of preseason. Especially if they’re off to South Korea.

Here’s hoping for a LCB, RWB, Eriksen and a forward. With Lo Celso, Winks, Ndombele & co shipped out.

People seem to find the idea of being in for him amusing, I don't get it. He's tailed off a bit at City in recent years but is still scoring a whole bunch of goals, and for a couple of seasons was legitimately City's best performing player.

He's a very, very good footballer. The kind we lack imo.

Hmmm… Rice was released at 14 by Chelsea. Is that a compliment to the academy? Yes and no I guess. Like saying Woolwich are responsible for Kane. Dodgy ground.

Chelsea rival Ajax for players playing in the top 5 leagues. But if we’re talking, top class players for champions league teams or super clubs then Ajax are ahead.

Vert, Toby, Eriksen, de Ligt, de Jong, Gravenberch… this is top class talent in remarkable numbers wanted by best teams in the world… that’s not the same as Tomori or Lamptey.
They also released Salah and De Bruyne.

Agree re last 50 years and also agree Vert and Toby are levels above but for sheer volume, Chelsea’s academy is incredible. You’ve left out Lamptey, Rice, Tomori, Ake and Jason Candy amongst others
If you go a little further back you will have these players:

Maarten Stekelenburg, Edwin van der Saar,

Frank de Boer, John Heitinga, Frank Rijkaard, Barry Hulshoff, Ruud Krol,
Gregory van der Wiel, Michael Reiziger, Wim Suurbier,

Edgar Davids, Nigel de Jong, Wesley Sneijder, Clarence Seedorf, Ronald de Boer, Aron Winter, Arie Haan, Rafael van der Vaart, Gerald Vanenburg,

Johan Cruijff, Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp, Wim Kieft, Marco van Basten, Piet Keizer,
Simon Tahamata,Andy van der Meyde, John van’t Schip, Johnny Rep, Sjaak Swart,

If we add Eriksen, Spence, LCB and FW it will feel a bit underwhelming that our outlay will only be around £130-150m given we're likely to receive a good £60-100m in sales. Would like to see us break the bank on 3-4 players to really put us in contention.

Richarlison, Hakimi, Torres and Bremer type of thing.
Not spending all available funds makes sense as long as we still massively improve the squad.

It gives us room in January to bolster. You never know which signings will settle in, which current players will get better and which will get worse. We need to be able to make one or two big signings in January

Anderlecht also has a great academy: Tielemans, Lukaku, Doku, Dendoncker, Lokonga, Januzaj, Mertens, Saelemaekers, Bornauw, ...

Lots of them are still very young but all playing in the top 5 leagues.

"Modern football fans". Good one, mate.

All I'm saying is that this is supposedly THE summer where we have everything - Conte, CL footy and the funds to spend big. After years of everyone being desperate for us to spend big, spending a net £50-80m does seem a bit underwhelming, yes, even if some of the players brought in are good fits (Perisic, Forster etc.).

For me, Spence will leave our RWB quality short of a title winning side and the CB situation seems to be getting slightly perilous with our main targets dropping out one by one.
Getting the right players is all that matters, not how much we spend.
