People seem to find the idea of being in for him amusing, I don't get it. He's tailed off a bit at City in recent years but is still scoring a whole bunch of goals, and for a couple of seasons was legitimately City's best performing player.

He's a very, very good footballer. The kind we lack imo.
It’s part and parcel of the YouTube compilation era. Every foreign link is met with positivity, because most only see the 8 minute video of goals and perfect touches and none of the bad.

Whereas when we’re linked to very good, but not perfect, Premier League players like Richarlison, Sterling, Jesus, JWP, etc etc people always pipe up that they aren’t good enough because they’ve actually seen them play and they aren’t scoring every 30 seconds like in a YouTube comp.

It’s ridiculous how many very good Premier League players people think we’re better then. Sterling now is the most egregious example, he’s going to be one of the top 10-12 most prolific goal scorers in PL history if he has a few more decent seasons. Of course he’d help us massively.

Anyone know why the Spence deal is still not done? Starting to feel like Levy is being a tight cunt again
Meh, I wouldn't let the speed of the other deals cloud the Spence one. There are plenty of suitors, Spence was away with the England U21s, and Middlesborough (fairly) want a payday out of it - and don't forget the English premium.

It's still early doors for the window and I think it's the next one to get done. Maybe the LCB comes in first if it drags on a bit more.

Sterling is very likely going to Chelsea according to reliable reports.

He has some strengths, but so many negatives that I'm not too worried about this. His decision making is sometimes bad, dribbling into crowded areas, and he can miss sitters in key moments.
I don't think he will improve Chelsea that much.

He very much will. Miles better than Pulisic, Hudson Odoi or Ziyech. A front 3 featuring Sterling, Havertz & Mount will be dangerous.

Sterling does have weak points, but far more positives. Playing for City can help players but can also be stifling, at Chelsea he'll play every single week and benefit from it imo. If they can unlock his form from 2017-2020 then it'll be an absolute bargain.

Sterling is the Higuain of today. He's prolific. He would be among the most prolific strikers in almost any teams. But then you have no reason to drop him in key games, only for him to choke and ruin the whole season ambition.

It's not easy to drop a player in flawless form for the key games because nobody want to acknowledge the cruel truth until that choker actually leaves the team. All those teams with Higuain suffered. Sterling to some extend is similar.

On positive side, Sterling and Higuain downside wouldn't affect league campaingn as much. So the question is whether we fancy our chances in the league more; or we aim to win those cups this season to get the monkey off our back. In my opinion, we can close the gap in the league, but would be still a long shot for us to win it. So we should win the cups, which is no to Sterling. Else it potentially ends in tears wasting another year of players who have shorter prime years left like Lloris, Kane, Son.

Sterling might help us if we incur injuries but I wouldn’t want him in our front 3. Dangerous player but not a systems / automation / team player

They are dishonest, mostly following lots of journos on twitter, maybe looking at betting markets, then making their guesses. The Athletic for example said good chance of Eriksen coming, that it's between us and Brentford, so this guy has just figured out he can call it now. If he's wrong, it's easy to come up with some made up crap about why things changed.

People close to these deals are not going to leak to some random kid on twitter.
Yeah, but it's all good fun...if we couldn't post stuff from people who actually know fuck all, then we wouldn't be posting anything...we then would have nothing to talk about, laugh at or generally ridicule...

Not rating Sterling is genuinely mental as any look at his individual and team record will show you.

It’s the same relying on your football analysis from banter accounts nonsense that has people telling you Kane is shit and overrated. Silly stuff.

Excellent post.

Not for me. Take sterling out of that City team and he doesn't score at the same rate. His overall bumbling is in stark contrast to the control that Deki offers. Theres a reason our goalscoring went through the stratosphere when he joined.
Sterling is definitely preferable against parked busses but Kulu's instant chemistry with Son, Kane, Doherty is not to be taken for granted.
