Play across the front line.

We need a forward not a winger, and i can't see Levy sanctioning both these player purchases at the likely cost.

No way.
I definitely understand that point of view. Though I feel compelled to point out that last season in the league:

Richarlison played 30 matches in the league, 4 of his goals and 3 assists came from his 6 matches starting on the left,

While 4 goals and 2 assists came from his 22 matches staring down the middle (19 CF, 3 AM).

He also scored 2 goals in 2 appearances off the bench, for which I lack the positional data.

He never played on the right.

Raphinha by comparison:

9 goals and 2 assists in 31 matches off the right.

1 assist in 1 match off the left.

1 goal in 1 match in the middle (CF)

1 goal in1 match off the bench.

So in terms of impact, we don’t have enough sample size for Raphinha so it would be disingenuous of me to lean on his ratios, but he was at least impactful away from the right when given the chance, while Richarlison has had a plethora of opportunity last season away from the left and been largely blunt (and that drop off from Calvert Lewin, who scored 5 goals in fewer appearances up front (15 starts, 2 sub), may well have contributed to Everton’s horrible season).

So if Richarlison’s current stats say he’s best on the left, where we have Son,

and Raphinha’s say he’s best on the right, where we have Kulusevski,

and that there’s evidence that one struggles to have an impact down the middle while the other has had little exposure down the middle,

I don’t really see an argument in favour of either in terms of versatility. Therefore, for me the choice comes down purely to which I feel is the better player/ a bigger upgrade on our depth options/ who I’d rather see off the bench to change a match or starting in place of one of the main men, and also who I’d rather watch, and that’s Raphinha in my book.

All disagreements welcome 😊

I would love to think that the Spence saga dragging on is because Don Fabio is doing a cheeky behind the scenes smash for Hakimi.

Why not both?
