It was a hypothetical to illustrate a point. Probably the same was said about Dele circa 2017 and Eriksen circa 2018 and look at how those ended up. Not saying Sonny is in the same category. He's clearly not going to down tools and isn't a 2-3 season wonder either.

But, just for argument's sake, someone offers £100m for Sonny and Conte says "fine, but you'll get me player X and player Y to fill the gap he will leave" we shouldn't knee jerk reject it.

Everyone loves Son and his attitude and personality are unequaled. But it's not out of the realm of possibility that we could become a better team by replacing him.

Again, it's a hypothetical, but hey if you want to pile on, knock yourselves out.
Completely agree - also freshens things up. Look at Klopp with Mane / Salah….. probably doesn’t want them to go but is actively securing their replacements

Still don’t understand why we don’t bring ericksen? Proven PL quality on a free even for two years he would useful. Gives us time to develop HG players like Alfie who can learn from him. Plus he would give us great options. Especially if we can’t find anyone similar who isn’t going to cost a fortune. He would defo help to cover kulu and when we play 3 in CM,
Patrici - worrying that all hear is that his Italy all them time. People on this board have posted about players far and wide yet he seems/appears to only look at players in Italy. We may be looking at players in other leagues but still concerning that we could be limiting our search to just a handlful of clubs in Italy.

Spurs have done 3 transfers so far this season:
1 from Italia
2 from the EPL (and most probably soon 3 with Djed Spence)
And the 3 previous Seri A players acquired by Paratici - i.e., Romero, Bentancur & Kulusevski - more than justifies his interest in that market.

Eriksen may not be so keen on being an understudy at Spurs and will prefer to play regular football, I am sure there are "good reasons" if Spurs are not pursuing hm
And yet again, a player being "free" is not so free: those players (and their agents) will demand hefty bonuses and signing-on fees.

Luis Suárez is available on a "free" (yes, I know, there will be signing-on fees etc. involved), He's 33 now, so of course not at the top of his career and I know he's not so popular among many fans but he was (still is?) a heck of a player. And he's a winner.

On Richarlison, it's the one player we're linked to who just doesn't really feel me with any confidence. Every time I've watched him he's been ineffective and spends most of his time rolling around play acting. For £50m surely there must be someone more worth it. I'm hoping this is all links, and secretly Paratici is lining someone up much like the Bissouma transfer where it went under the radar. Admittedly Richarlison has been playing in a shit Everton team but still.

The first link is a very good example of how the press can twist a quote totally out of context and add their own meaningless interpretation.
Do I want him at Spurs? No!
He and his mother would be perfect for Woolwich

Report: 'Complete player' would much rather join Tottenham than PSG this summer

Adrien Rabiot prefers a move Tottenham Hotspur over a return to his former club PSG during the summer transfer window.

The Telegraph report that Rabiot wants to test himself in the Premier League and wishes to join an English club who are in the Champions League next season.

That puts Tottenham, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, who are managed by Rabiot’s former Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel, in the frame.

Adrien Rabiot wants Premier League move and could be available for £15m

Midfielder wants to leave Juventus and enjoyed a good relationship with Thomas Tuchel at PSG but there has been no contact from Chelsea

Adrien Rabiot wants to leave Juventus and join a Premier League club.

The 27-year-old has made it clear he intends to quit the Italian giants during this window and they have agreed to his request.

It is understood that the midfielder, who has one year left on his contract, would be available for between €15-20 million (£13-17 million).

Ideally Rabiot wants to join an English club that has qualified for the Champions League but negotiations are yet to take place.

The France international is determined to succeed in England and is excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

Rabiot enjoyed a good relationship at Paris Saint-Germain when Thomas Tuchel was the head coach – Tuchel did not want him to leave the club – but as yet there has been no contact with Chelsea who are in the process of sorting out their approach to recruitment. Tuchel is set to be given more say.

There have been claims that PSG want Rabiot to return but he has absolutely no interest in going back.

Rabiot’s representatives informed Juventus at the start of February that he wanted to leave the club this summer and, after talks with his representatives, they have agreed to his request. As always the negotiations are being handled by Veronique Rabiot.

Juventus return for pre-season training on July 11 and ideally Rabiot would like his future sorted before then but is prepared to wait for the right offer.

Given Rabiot plays for Juventus and the World Cup in Qatar takes place in less than five months’ time – he is a member of Didier Deschamps’ France squad - then changing leagues as well as clubs might be regarded as a risk at this time.

However it is understood that Rabiot does not see it like that and is excited by the challenge and is confident he will quickly succeed in the Premier League which he has always admired and which appears to suit his style of play.

Given Rabiot’s pedigree his desire is, naturally, to join a club that is competing in the Champions League – Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur – although it remains to be seen what happens if he receives an offer from Manchester United or Woolwich who are aiming to finish in the top four next season.

There have been reports in Italy that Newcastle United have contacted Juventus to enquire about Rabiot’s availability but that is understood to not be the case.

No thanks, his racial abuse of Evra and his behaviour afterwards will not be forgotten by me or many other fans.

I'm glad he's back playing but I'm not fussed about him. Id prefer to have someone who is in contention for a first team place week in and week out, not just back up.

Bad idea and Liverpool were forced to bring in their replacements sooner than later. You do know that Mane/Salah both of their contracts end next summer and high chance they won't resign right? Mane is gone already and Salah will likely follow suit next summer. To make matters worse Firmino's contract ends next summer as well and doesn't appear he wants to resign.

There's absolutely zero reason to even entertain the idea of selling Son in his prime and he's contracted to 2025. Selling Son now is going backwards and undoing Conte's work as others have called out.

Always likely we couldn't fix everything in one window. But getting 2 starting 11 upgrades already is massive. One more - probably LCB and add some squad depth and we've had an excellent window.

I would like to see Rodon get that loan move to Rome, he hasn't had much of a chance here and I don't think he's a bad player at all, he could come back a better player and perhaps challenge for a first team spot.

Been away for a while. Only 911 pages :mourglasses:.

Anyone who thinks Spurs are going to use a whopping 150 million on players are smoking some real good shit. Even more unrealistic is the idea Levy will let our Deadwood go on the cheap.

The first three signings were miracles. Definitely Bargains. Unfortunately not all transfers are. We back to haggling a few million off Jed Spence and making 10001 bids for players. We all know the real issue. Levy wants to buy Low and sell High.

Its sad but I don't forsee players lining up to be a part of The Hotspur dressing room. Its sad, cause with Conté there, we truly have a chance to put trophies in the cabinet.
