maybe an opportunity has arisen in terms of gvardiol

maybe its why we have shelved raphinha possibly

yes he is 20 but he is a generational talent

Spending what Leipzig want on Gvardiol would be one of the biggest risks we could possibly take. 20 year old centre backs have barely even started developing. The weight of that price-tag would be huge. Would it be an exciting coup? Yes. But can I see why the club wouldn't go near a just out of his teens CB for that kind of price?

Absolutely .. if his development doesn't end up linear nobody is going to be patient when he's got a Van Djik price tag on his head.

Honestly, do not get dissatisfied and disappointed on the alleged missed opportunities you are seeing reported. I am extremely confident the majority will be overly very happy with our further acquisitions.

We are not being bullied by anyone. Where we once was used by clubs and agents to further their agendas, to a point the shoe is firmly sitting on the other foot.

We have possibly not finished with Italy either. As they are throwing all sorts of proposals to us, as they are in essence strapped for liquid cash. I do not want to say too much. Conté is happy, and Fabio is proving himself with Daniel working in his strong area on financials so we don’t get shafted. To make it clearer, deals agreed and then the pay structure etc is negotiated with Daniel and his team.

I expect 2-3 before travelling out on 10th July.

Yeh of course you know the ins and outs Hercules you prick

Anyone know what "liquid cash" looks like?

Spurs fans complaining on not spending

Spurs fans complaining on spending too much in one player 😂

Just enjoy this summer.
By that logic we should all jump up and down when we bid 200 million for Andy Carrol and Charlie Adam this window

It's not hard to understand that fans want us to show some ambition but not blow ridiculous money on players that don't yet merit it

Raphinha cost 70 80M , Richarlison 60 70M, Nunez almost 100M. You have to spend big if you want succes. Not wanting to risk because it maybe doesn’t work out. That’s Levy all over these years. Hopefully that changed with Conte.

These are attacking players, not 20 year old centre backs. If we sign Gvardiol I certainly wouldn't complain, but there's a big risk factor with a player that young in that particular position. Young attackers can get away with being inconsistent/flashes of genius. Defenders get judged on consistency.

Hmm, I feel that those two posts combined kind go give away that you are more into numbers and bling-bling rather then into team improvement.

For fuck sake, it would be batshit crazy to pay 3th highest transfer fee for player that has completed just 1 season in top league.

Literally you are proposing to pay money that would get you guaranteed world class CB... For someone who might be next best thing but could also never cope in EPL. That is plain stupid. With such deal we only would have big downside. If he becomes one of the best CBs of his generation, his value will most likely never exceed this 80mil that you would happily pay - absolute maximum upside would be maybe 20 mil EUR. But if he flops in EPL he will be 25-30 mil player... So downside of 50-55mil EUR.

But hey, everyone can have their own approach. And if in your books Ndombele transfer was fcking awesome (cause you know, big money, much bling) and Bissouma is kind of meeh signing (because you know, just small 25 mil fee) then so be it. I personally prefer go get good players. Not high fees.

If there's a hype train; you can bet he's on it....... Til the next one comes along.

tommyboyspurs tommyboyspurs - Torres still your dream signing? 🤡

Surely we’d have learnt from Ndombele. Buying a player for huge sums after one good season isnt something we can risk doing and it not working out. I would be hugely shocked if we did it, I really would be. It’s far too much money for us.

He has contract until 2026. He’s top prospect in world football. You have to pay that komd of money on future world class defender.
It’s better than spending 80M on two alright defenders.
I can say because I watched him a lot since he debutnin seniour football. These players won’t flop.
No. You could get 80 mil for already established and proven superstar. Not a coin flip of getting player who has the potential to be great but could also turn out to be not so special.

This is very close to world record fee across history of football for CBs. It is very unlikely that his value in future will exceed the proposed 80million.

He changed his mind on Torres- what's wrong with that? Maybe he saw some clips of some of his errors etc.

Geezer's a clown........ It's indicative of his typical mindset; not an outlier.

Every name that gets hyped it's "we should be all over that" (regardless of our needs positionally) then they quickly get forgotten about when the next name gets some hype.

Classic highlight-reel junky who 'collects' players like panini stickers....

We're also a club that would struggle to hold on to him if he he becomes good enough for Real Madrid in a few years.

If we refuse to sell he'd walk on a free, and we'd not get much more than 80m in any case.

No offence but the amount of times I've seen this kind of statement from people about players and then they turn out to be wrong..

No player is guaranteed to not be a flop at any one club. Even uber talented players, there's so many reasons a transfer can not work out. And even City, PSG etc would baulk at spending 80 million on a young cb.

I'd rather take the risk on a big money, high ceiling player than play for the safer option. Being burned on big money signings previously should have no impact on who we sign going forward except for the fact that we do increased due diligence on attitude/personality. We are looking to join the top, top table, not just slightly improve from 4th to 3rd and we need a VVD type addition (in terms of impact), not a slightly better verson of what we already have.

Anyone else remember Alan Halovich (sp?)......?

"worth breaking the bank for.... Guaranteed superstar"......... Spurs made the ultimate fuck up by not grabbing him "even if it costs 50m at 17y/o" in old money.

Or how about Moussachio...... anyone?

......Turns of out Fazio had the better career afterall.
