Without turning this into a manure thread, it seems ETH wants to transform them into a side playing "the Ajax way".Not sure about that from Murphy. It does poss a question though, both Eriksen and Fernandes are not strong defensively, I think they would be good going forward with both on the pitch but United could also fold like a house of cards unless they have 1-2 really dominate midfielders behind them.
So, if he gets de Jong & Eriksen to join van de Beek, he has a full complement of Ajax ball playing midfielders. Add Bruno F, and that's four CMs who are good on the ball and not very good defensively. But unlike de Boer's clusterfuck at Palace, ETH will at least have an "Ajax core" to implement his philosophy. The transition should be quicker.
The real question is whether that style of playing will work week in, week out, in the PL.
Or whether manure have to return to the McFred (McTominay & Fred) CM axis.
