Yeah, I'm not trying to make a judgement of Lenglet. Just annoyance at the obvious lack of critical thinking from some posters.

He may have a great season, there are seasons to be hopeful, but it's like every day he gets better, without having kicked a ball. It's like those gooner posts on twitter about how coming 5th is acutally a clever move by lego boy.

Nah mate, we got a 3rd/4th choice CB cos we couldn't land Bastoni, Gvardiol, Schlotterbeck etc. Expectations should be in line with that.

Yep, I agree with that especially.

He's awesome when it comes to last ditch tackles and blocks, works well in chaotic enviroment. We shouldn't let it happen in 1st place. He's much worse than our other options now.
He's a good kid and plays like one of us , in that he absolutely bloody means it. But he lacks too much I'm the ball playing and ball carrying department for what we are doing. I'll always wish him well and he'll always have the Liverpool and City games where he basically refused to let us lose.

I think he'd probably be well good enough to be our 5th or 6th choice CB, especially being on the training field with Conte which has improved all of our players. The issue is injuries, he spends so much time out that I'm not sure he'll be on the training field enough to benefit.

If there is no loan-to-buy clause in Lenglet deal then I would honestly drop him and go for other options.

Given his wage (it was speculated that we would have to cover 170 th pw), current form and no buy option... We are taking burdain off Barca accounts and will not get any reward...

This trial period of 1 season was whole point why I felt it to be a cleaver deal. Now it does not seem to be that.

Either give us low salary (100 kpw tops) OR low buy-out clause. If you give neither of those - then fuck off and pay 100% of his salary yourself.

Why? The club have made a decision thats best for us. If we werent happy, we would either continue to push for our preferred conditions or backed out.

Lets see what comes out in the wash👍👍

What’s going on everyone, hope all is well at your end. I’ve just done a video on Clement Lenglet for those interested in finding out what they can expect from him in the Premier League. Contrary to what a lot of Barcelona supporters might say, there’s a quality player in there and one that will succeed in the right system. As always, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and am happy to answer any questions you may have in mind, cheers!

Jack Wilshere???

surprised family matters GIF

The Athletic have now revealed that Tottenham’s desire to complete their signings early was a key reason why the club decided to step up their pursuit of Clement Lenglet over their other left centre-back options.

If some of the reports over recent days are to be believed, Lenglet is now close to completing a season-long loan move to Spurs (Sport). In fact, Fabrizio Romano has now given the deal his ‘here we go’ seal of approval.

The Athletic report that Josko Gvardiol, Alessandro Bastoni, Nico Schlotterbeck and Sven Botman were all ahead of Lenglet in Tottenham’s wish list when the summer transfer window opened.

However, it is explained that Leipzig were demanding a huge fee for Gvardiol while Inter were reluctant to let Bastoni go.

In addition, Schlotterbeck was said to be keen to remain in Germany and Tottenham reportedly felt that Botman would not be a good fit for the back three, which is why they allowed the Dutchman to go to Newcastle.

So, rather than waiting until later in the transfer window, hoping that Leipzig or Inter change their stance on Gvardiol or Bastoni, Antonio Conte’s men allegedly decided to bring in Lenglet to add experience and competition to their backline.

It is asserted that a move for the Frenchman represents something of a ‘compromise’ from Spurs, with the club viewing the 27-year-old as a temporary ‘stop-gap’.

Rather than spending relatively big money on Sven Botman or Pau Torres, who might not be ideal fit for Antonio Conte’s back three, it makes sense for the club to use Lenglet as a temporary stop-gap, and try again to sign one of Bastoni or Gvardiol next summer.

Someone got paid for writing that, something which has been posted hundreds of times by hundreds of people across spurs social since the start of the window
