Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Nah, I made a joke about transfer spending, and like the loyal little pup you are, you jumped on it .. all the while seething that anybody could think this window is anything but perfect. And the other members of the transfer police joined in, because anyone who suggest any player we're signing is anything less than the second coming of Jesus is wrong.

The window has been pretty good, so far.
Nobody's seething here but you, as evidenced by the continual name calling.

You'll have to link me the article. All the information I've seen on this has shown a clear correlation, obviously not 100% of the time (United..) but teams who invest more generally achieve more. I imagine the top spenders on transfers correlate pretty closely with the top spenders on wages, anyway.
It was in soccernomics, the authors did a study on it.

Stop being such a tart. We're all yids here (well...mostly).

Could’ve sworn you said you put me on ignore and slagged me off when I had my little timeout…

So kindly mind your business because I did see what you wrote and I’ve not forgotten it (elephants don’t forget).

I stand by everything I’ve said today. Very pleased with our transfer business, there are no GAPING holes in our squad, and we don’t need to just ho out and spend big money for the sake of it.

I trust in Conte.

And that do be all I gots to say about that.

I dunno.

It was an allegation at that point. Brighton and Spurs knew there was an allegation (not of rape) against Bissouma.

I don't think the club did anything wrong.

Yeah if something is at allegation stage I feel the club is well within its rights to continue to allow the player to do his job & live a normal life, we live in a country where innocent till proven guilty applies. Unless the club had info beyond that (which we can't really speculate about) I don't see that story as particularly damning.

Nothing I haven't said to you directly.

You just seem to have a bee in your bonnet for some reason these days.

Not at all. I’m actually in a good mood.

Maybe you want to change the way you read things.

Anyway how you take what I write…that’s on you. I couldn’t give a rats fart.

You would fucking know about it if I really did have a ‘bee in my bonnet’.

👍🏾

Yes.

No, spending directly correlates with success. Clubs who spend more statistically do better. Obviously you can find bargains, but operating on a smaller budget is far, far harder, and players with higher wages & transfer fees are generally costing more for a reason.

This obviously doesn't equate to every expensive signing being a success, or that we should pay more for mediocre players. But that's not the argument put forward, but you know that, you're just going to pretend I've made that point because it's easier to try and discredit.
The single biggest correlation for league position is on wages spent if I remember rightly, more so than transfer fees. But correlation doesn't necessarily prove causation of course.

Good player, but wildly overvalued at that asking price. Bastoni would be similar if we spent north of €70m euros on him. Both very good, but pace of Serie A suits both players.
