I think people were expecting about 4 new guaranteed starters coming in. A RWB, CM, LWB & CB.

Whether that was a fair expectation or not is a different question.

(Fair fucks for not being a question ducker.)

So 4 would have been acceptable?

......And thus if Spence and Lenglet muscle their way in before too long; there ought to be no complaints then?

Lol you compare our team to City’s and Liverpool’s. Should I remind you which club wants to get close to the top 2? So far we’ve added one or two players who improve our first 11. One (Biss) is probably out injured, the other (Ivan) is probably playing, but without him, we’d have the same starting 11 as last season, hence the tweet.

Perisic & Bissouma are the only players signed this summer that we'd expect to go straight in to the team, with the others strengthening our depth, so funnily enough if both of those were injured/out then we'd expect to be starting with the same team as last season and considering we finished the season as the leagues 3rd best team on form (since Kulu and Bentancur joined) it's not really cause for concern, is it?

I think what we've done hits the mark in terms of being acceptable. More than that, in fact. But when people were riding the wave of getting CL, having Conte & the war chest news, the expectations were there that we had a chance to go out and get 4 new starters and build an XI which can challenge for the league

In the context of that I think we've had a pragmatic window but not the kind where you're absolutely buzzing to see players get on the pitch, like I think would have been the case if say a Bastoni had ended up being signed. But yes the Spence/Lenglet point is dead on, as I've said before we can't say for sure how 'good' the window was or not till we see all these players in action.

It's not that I can't relate to any of that..... RWB in particular is frustrating (less so LCB), but I can appreciate the rationale of the current outcome much the same.

I'm still buzzing to see Peresic & Bissouma start tho as I think they can both have a big impact.

Yeah this is a fair post

If indeed Soton wants £40m for KWP; that would be the end of Spurs' interest in him. Too bad Levy did not insert a buy-black clause when he sold KWP

Chelsea have registered an interest in signing Kyle Walker-Peters this summer as Thomas Tuchel looks to add another defender to his squad ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

The Blues previously tried to sign Matthijs de Ligt, Presnel Kimpembe, Nathan Ake and Jules Kounde during the summer window, but deals fell through for various reasons.

As a result, the Premier League giants have turned their attention to Southampton's Walker-Peters, Brighton's Marc Cucurella and Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries.

Mate, I just read the early pages of the Reg thread....... Terms of purchase aside, there's few doubters about the player himself..... Even perennial shit-merchants like Arcspace cast him as an impressive signing.

Maybe they'd not genuinely watched him and were just regurgitating media hot-takes.... Who knows.

........We always see a similar climb-down over players that flop tho'.

Absolutely.

Reg is extremely likeable... Shame it never worked out.
You ever gone back and read the first 50 pages of the Harry Kane thread?!?
