Ok. Don’t exercise the buy option and then go out there and try to find someone as good and healthier for 42m.

Easy to make claims like this if you don’t have to bear any responsibility for being wrong.

Where are you getting half a season missing from? I mean seriously, comparing him to Ledley? King was crocked on his first game with us by Delap, who effectively destroyed his knee. Unless you have some intel that Romero has a similar issue, then don't you think you're being just a tad over the top? I mean, why aren't you saying the same thing for Richarlison who cost more, or Kulusevski who will cost a similar amount? Christ, should we just not buy any player with an injury record?

To my knowledge, Romero's injuries are incidental knocks or strains, which is par for the course in his position, hardly worthy of the angst you are projecting here.

FWIW as well, what we are going to pay for Romero is relative peanuts compared to the prices being bandied about for other "prospects."

Since we signed Romero he has missed a grand total of 123 days due to injury/quarantine etc. A season is aprox 9 months typically. 9 x 30 days = 270 days. 270 / 123 is almost half a season.

Add in the likelihood he's gonna pick up suspensions as well.

As for cost - £42 for a player who plays a lot is a bargain.
£42 for a player who misses half a season at a time requiring us to spend another vast sum of money is £42m + vast sum of money.,
Could cut to the fucking chase and just spend the vast of money and cut the £42 free if he's always gonna be injured.

At the very least we need bide our time before making this deal permanent. We should asses whether this is isolated or is going to be a regular occurrence going forward.

1) but he hasn’t missed time due to suspensions. So you expect that to increase but his injury rate to be the same? Just as likely chance his injury rate decreases.

2) He’s played 24 of 40 PL games. So 66% available. Not great for sure but had a big hamstring problem last season and the Covid stuff too. He’s set to miss 1 game now and ppl are freaking out.

3) How are we going to bide our time? The option to buy has to happen this window as his loan will expire.

We’d be the laughingstock of the league if we didn’t sign him. Chelsea or United would drop 50m without thinking twice.

Numerous twitter accounts all claiming Ndombele arrived about an hour ago to do his medical in Napoli

I can confirm there was no McDonald's in sight.

Hopefully his loan to Napoli confirmed shortly - with majority of his wages off the books.

That would leave two players we almost certainly want to loan out - Reguilon (now behind Perisic and Sessegnon) and Winks (behind Bissouma, Bentancur, Hojbjerg and Skipp) - although their wages are probably a fraction of either Ndombele or Lo Celso.

Why?

His longest lay off was 16 games when he did his hamstring, his first injury of that kind in his career. Other than that, he's missed no more than 3 games through injury. Indeed, his 3rd longest lay off was when he was quarantined!

Reading the latest report today, he's reported as being willing to make himself available to play, but Conte, quite sensibly, doesn't want to risk him.

Methinks you are getting a little bit mamby on this one.
