What about a creative attacking midfielder built and oiled like Traore?
He has not "fallen out of favor".
He has never been a starter in top 5 leagues in Europe.
Not even for 1 season. He has been rotation / bench option throughout his time in Atalanta and before that he played in Belgium.
You have to factor in how the club was doing as well.
Atalanta goals scored in RM 3 seasons -
2021/22 - 65 ; RM contributions 11 ; 1600 minutes ; goal involvement 17% ; G/A for every 145 min
2020/21 - 90 ; 20 contributions ; 1880 minutes ; 22% ; G/A for 94 min
2019/20 - 98 ; 13 contributions; 1500 minutes ; 13,2% ; G/A for 115 min
So the difference is not so stark, but is still there.

We also have Perisic who could very well play as LW.
And if we went into market to buy a midfielder with passing ability, we could also use 3 midfielders + 2 attackers setup.
Would help not to have our CM not be overcrowded.
P.S - fuck off, before everyone come moaning about 3-4-3 being Conte system, then - fuck off, he had room and time for Eriksen in his Inter time + if he likes it or not, there has to be at least some level of flexibility to do well in EPL

This is the thing - Kane and Kulu are both more than capable of moving during a game to switch between 352 and 343
If we sign a player who's sole position is to roam around the middle pinging passes about, you lose that in game adaptability. So we then go from a front 3 to a 2 and then we're over stacked or the new player who only plays cameo roles. Neither is a good outcome.
Is Gil suited to the premier League or indeed Contes tactics as it seems he is looking for faster powerful players to force home the issue rather than craft.
Seems to me that if Conte really is after an AM player we'd have gone all out to sign Erikson.
Agree. If we sell Reggie and loan Gil and Sarr then that still only leaves us 1 foreign trained place left if we want to register everyone for Europe. Home grown centre back choices a bit threadbare, can really only think of Chalobah (Chelsea, forget it), Guehi (cant see them selling) and maybe Kilman. Thats why if we're not going for Maddison i'm starting to think Zaha might make some sense. Olise would be better but cost a bomb. I suppose we could always buy 2 foreign trained and just leave someone out of the CL squad (Doc, Emerson, Moura?) but always feel thats a bit crap.
Absolute no brainer. Free. KNows the coach. Knows the club. Knows the players he'd be teeing up.
We probably told him that we're interested but 343 is the main system so he's gonna be backup. And that's always gonna be the problem trying to sign a position specific player.

It's more likely in my opinion that Conte did not think Eriksen was the right age or fit for what he wants with us and the squad.
And to a large extent I agree. At 23/4 Eriksen would have been tailor made. Not so now.
