Had a look on the Everton forum. They're fed up with Gordon and just want him gone. They all think £60m is bonkers and would be happy if it was only £30m. They don't appear to rate him that highly. I think he has potential, but let's just bid to increase the price for the chavs. Hopefully they end up spunking £70m on him.

And it's a nonsense supposition.

Eriksen ain't at a United thinking he is a guaranteed in every game.

It's more likely in my opinion that Conte did not think Eriksen was the right age or fit for what he wants with us and the squad.

And to a large extent I agree. At 23/4 Eriksen would have been tailor made. Not so now.

Where does a 23/24 year old Eriksen fit in at 343 Spurs?

No fucking chance. And at the money Chelsea are offering I absolutely hope not. Let them "blow us out of the water" like Man United keep doing and end up saddled for 5 years.

A 23/24 Eriksen would have fitted alright He may not have been a Bentancur but he would have been at the very least a squad option.

I think Conte did not even see him as that and I think mostly to do with his age as opposed to anything else.

I mean what system did Conte deploy at Inter when Eriksen was there? Genuine question as I don't know.

Can’t moura do that ? And if the answer is deemed to be no then we should have sold him no matter how much he wants to run his contract down snd semi retire

We currently got 5 forwards for 3 places is that not sufficient?

Why have we got to go out and buy some old dog to take up a foreign slot and burn wages ?

Its clear (average goal involvements over last few years) Moura is no longer of a standard we need as one of our top 5 key forward options.

It is not possible to change out every player we want to in one window - so option is to keep Moura as effectively 6th forward this season (2 players for every position in squad) and upgrade on Gil is going out on loan.

Your comment on 'some old dog to take up a foreign slot and burn wages' could have been used against Perisic as well - but he's a great addition. Our question is actually which of the forwards we can get fit Conte's system best, is available and at an affordable price. If that is the Ukrainian guy so be it (and plenty of debate on his abilities last night on previous pages suggesting he has a lot of pluses going for him), if we can find a better fit, even better.

And if HG even better still, but there are not too many options there who fit Conte's criteria of an alternate (rotation option) to Kulusevski .

He used him as a sub for the 2nd half of the season he signed him
The following season he appears to have alternated him with Vidal as part of a midfield 3 which is contrar to the favoured 343
However, that may just have been making use of the players at his disposal. Did Inter have a 3rd attacker to play with Lukaku and Martinez?

Moura will play RWB far more often than forward now. He can actually contribute something there by merely running the ball up the pitch. In a more forward position his contribution is next to nothing

Don’t understand why we’d we loaning out Gil to bring in another similar/slight/technical/prospect player for massive money?

The money being brandied about that Everton apparently want for Gordon is scandalous.

Not sure but obviously if we are going for him then he fits a certain profile. One thing I have noticed is we went for Zaniolo and Gordon is quite similar to him, very strong, very quick, very aggressive with hard ball carrying/dribbling abilities.

To me it seems like Conte wants a player to do the dogs works and also break the line, ball carry etc.

Not only that.

We also have Perisic who could very well play as LW.

And if we went into market to buy a midfielder with passing ability, we could also use 3 midfielders + 2 attackers setup.
Would help not to have our CM not be overcrowded.
P.S - fuck off, before everyone come moaning about 3-4-3 being Conte system, then - fuck off, he had room and time for Eriksen in his Inter time + if he likes it or not, there has to be at least some level of flexibility to do well in EPL :D .

We are well covered at LW, with Son and Richarlison

We are not well covered at RW with only Kulusevski, so Perisic's versatility at being able to play LW is not overly helpful here.

Would people’s feeling on Gordon change if he was available for £30m

He is a top player for his age. He is more than worth £30m but the question is whether he is ready and suits what we need.

Pros

- Very strong
- Very quick
- Good dribbling and close control
- Aggressive both in attack and defence
- never stops

Cons

- Young and inexperienced
- G/A needs to be higher although admittedly he plays in a crap Everton team

Here's how I see Conte's likely tactical options & the transfer implications.

Eriksen (aka a creative C/AM) could be accommodated at Inter because Conte was playing 3-5-2 with Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez through the middle up top.

Against the chavs, Conte played Richarlison through the middle with Kane, and I do think it's possible he occasionally plays with 2 of Kane, Richarlison and Son central.

The second chav goal was the direct result of our makeshift back 4 getting overloaded as Conte was about to switch back to 3 CBs, and it's very hard for defenders to change mindsets & responsibilities between those two formations.

Clearly 3-4-3 is our current primary system. No room for a creative CM / AM.

But I believe Conte may develop the 3-5-2 in training, preserving our defensive structure. In a 3-5-2 we could accommodate a creative CM / AM. Deki could play there, and we could buy another.

Finally, I note the strong links to Lautaro Martinez early in the window, and our Italian members say Lautaro can only really play through the middle. This, for me, is further evidence that Conte would consider sometimes playing his Inter formation of 3-5-2.
