We are well covered at LW, with Son and Richarlison

We are not well covered at RW with only Kulusevski, so Perisic's versatility at being able to play LW is not overly helpful here.

I believe it was quite accepted assumption that Rich can cover all 3 positions in frontline, wasn't it ?!?
He is right-footed, so he wouldn't play fully like inverted winger, but it does not mean right-footer cannot shoot from right wing.

Plus there is Moura who can play on the right if needed.

And in general depth of Kane, Son, Kulusevski, Richalidson, Moura and if needed Perisic feels quite sufficient. There has to be some flexibility and if injury crises hits, then tough luck but some players have to play in new positions.

Absolute no brainer. Free. KNows the coach. Knows the club. Knows the players he'd be teeing up.
We probably told him that we're interested but 343 is the main system so he's gonna be backup. And that's always gonna be the problem trying to sign a position specific player.

You know...there might be the issue of him choosing 2x more money that we were willing to offer + joining shit side where he would get guaranteed playing time, while getting playing time with us would be more questionable.

We'll see how good Paratici is in the next 9 days. Having to deliver likely 2 players, one who probably has to be homegrown, while clubs like Chelsea, Utd, Goons, probably Liverpool are looking to do more is not going to be easy. Lets hope this isnt his Nelson and Saha or Raziak moment and he can pull off another Kulusevski out of nowhere.

If he delivers one or two 'stop gap' players its because there aren't better options out there - and its always possible he says to Conte there aren't better options out there than Gil which is the worst case probably.

We would all dream of another Kulusevski and Bentancur surprise arrivals - but I'm struggling to think of comparable surprise transfers, possibly since Rafael van der Vaart magically appeared over night with rumours starting less than 30 minutes before transfer window closed. That's how good the January transfers were - although a few on here took a couple of months to recognise it

are people saying they don't rate Gordon or that his price is high? or both?
I'm saying he is energetic and hard running, this is mostly a by product of youth. His actual technical merits are somewhat less remarkable. He isnt a brilliant dribbler, doesn't possess an amazing shot. If he were a youngster at Spurs he'd not be getting first team game time but Everton found themselves where, did so he got mins. Its not hard to standout under those circumstances. I'd not spend more than 25m on him. I don't think right now he is better than Pulisic who he would replace at Chelsea. The Spurs links are due to one thing only our HM issues. At the prices Everton want I'd rather offer West ham the money for Bowen. Or Villa that young Central mid they have.

People didnt really know Kulu and Bentancur,

Many certainly claimed to.

We know Dan James and Traore and it wouldnt be a shock if they bombed because they're poor players.

I'm not a fan of signing either, but writing them off before they'd kicked a ball for us would still be a pre-emptive disservice to the highly paid proffesional(s) that had decided to sign them.

Flip the script if you like.... Consider how many were wanking themselves silly for a year or so over how much of a "must-sign" game-changer Ndombele was...... How'd that pan out for all the arm-chair experts?

There's absolutely no reason NOT to reserve judgement until a player takes the field for us.

Your initial post suggested you don't think Fab has earned a bit of faith and latitude so far.

I strongly disagree.

Richarlison plays left and centre - rarely right.

Moura is more of a striker so not a back up for Kulusevski, and sadly Moura doesn't get anywhere near the goal involvements we need.

Perisic can only play in one position at a time - if he plays left wing (which he used to several years ago before becoming a LWB) then we only have Sessegnon as LWB and are short there this season.

The above summarises why we want a RW who can deputise/rotate with Kulusevski and provide assists (plus a few goals).

I think this is why malinovskyi might make sense.

Won’t be too expensive, wages probably won’t be that high coming from Italy and he’ll be our 5th choice attacker. Nice shot/set peices so still has the ability to change a game.

Gonna be hard to get someone in who’s happy to be behind richarlson in the pecking order (although I do get there’s a lot of game time to be go around).

Never seen anything particularly special in Gordon. Always seemed like the typical pacy/good dribbler British winger but not anything beyond that. Maybe I've missed something, but I'd be pretty happy if Chelsea paid 60 million for him.

60 million for Sid the Sloth. Fuck me.

How much are Manny and Diego going for, and that stupid little squirrel chasing the nut?

You can't unsee it once you've seen it.
