You keep saying this but there's been pretty solid links to the likes of Paqueta & Malinovski from the club, and if they aren't creative midfielders then what are they? We were also linked to Maddison but it seems either Conte wasn't on board or the finances didn't make sense.

I think it's pretty clear that we want someone in that vein, but just aren't prepared to spend huge on the position.
Taking a cursory look paqueta vs Bentancur stats, Bentancur is definitely more solid defensively but paqueta seems to have some defensive bent. Some of this could also be the role he’s assigned on Lyon.

Past performance seems to indicate paqueta is far more creative/ offensive minded. Given how bad we’ve been in the middle, would it be worth it to sacrifice potentially some of Bentancurs defensive ability for a significant improvement on the ball from paqueta?

I think it’s a fair question.

These players you are so unimpressed with beat WH comfortably TWICE last season, Mr Shit-Monger.
Oh just seen this beauty from the company gimp(must remember to take off ignore more often)
Yes I know you are not keen on anyone having a different view or opinion but I do so sorry for being a rebel.
Yes we beat a injury hit team in the cup then a tired running on empty west ham in the league you are special.
Again to date I have not been overly impressed with the lacklustre performances so far, but I'm sure as you keep telling all of us you know best and more than any of us.😁😁😁😁😁

Sticky one isn't it?

The next question is that if we sacrifice the defensive ability, do we then lose the midfield battle, in which case would the offensive effectiveness of someone like Paqueta be nullified?

Maybe it's a "horses for courses" trade off, that's what the squad is for after all?

We do not need a creative midfielder - Conte doesn't rely on one. And we are not interested in a fans ide of how to re-set up a team in place of Conte

Currently we do not have a back up for Kuluseski who scored 5 goals and got 8 assists in 19 appearances in 2nd half of last season.

So that's the question - who to bring in ?
