Think we will get either James or traore before window shuts imo. If I had to pick one it would be traore. Dangerous player and can put teams on back foot concerned about him. James just has pace. Personally I'd like a midfield playmaker.

Would like to think the James rumours are a smokescreen for something else.

There's no way to dress this up: it would be the most underwhelming signing in recent memory.

He's a known quantity who has basically always been very poor in the Premier League (outside of the worldy he of course scored against Spurs in his United debut).

I get that he is quick and has PL experience but I struggle to see how he is an upgrade on Gil, they are at least on par right now and Gil has the higher upside.

The thought of James coming in as rotation for Kulu to partner Kane and Son is an insult to those two.

I would rather sign nobody than James or Traore. We've got a good squad and have made enough signings, we don't need to panic buy on somebody who isn't that good. If the perfect target isn't out there just keep the money for January/next window.

Are you guys really still hoping for 2 additions?

I mean I also hope this but considering that -
- only what... 80 hours of window left
- all links becoming quiet
- Conte talking about strenghtening the squad in past tense in the interview

I am starting to think (or more so becoming afraid) we have completed our incoming business.

I hope I am wrong of course.
I would not want to see us going into the season with only 5 really usable CBs (with 3 starting in every game) and 5 usable FW's (with 3 starting every game)...
At the same time in midfield we have Bissouma, PEH, Hjojberg, Skippy, Sarr (5 for 2)
and on wingback area Perisic, Sessegnon, Royal, Doherty, Spence (5 for 2).

As I've said previously - there is some flexibility involved - Perisic could play in LW position, possibly Royal in RCB position... but still.
Would not mind an attacking player (also capable of playing AM) + another CB that would be upgrade on Tanganga.
If we actually would get two decent players in, the squad would be frightening tbh!
Hoping...yes. As you point out whether it will happen is a different matter.

I think everyone would like another one or two incoming players - if its two, one needs to be taking up an empty HG place (under uefa regs) with another probably replacing Sarr as the 17th 'overseas trained player' in the squad.

No real rumours on the HG player, and with Leicester about to get a kings ransom from selling Fofana its unlikely to be one of their players. Gordon to Chelsea seems to have died - but not sure if Everton would sell at a more realistic £35m

Not that many rumours on the overseas trained player either - Malinovskyi seemed to be a possibility but any rumours seemed to stop a few days ago.

On the other hand club football comes to an end in early November for the world cup and resumes on Boxing Day with the January transfer window about to open then. So in reality we only need to could use the current squad for just over 2 months before an other transfer window opens.

We've made 6 decent signings already this window and not sure any other PL side has got better players in so having finished 4th last season and not having lost any key players (biggest loss being Bergwijn massively upgraded by Richarlison) we are actually in a good position.

But perhaps the biggest trick up our sleeve is having Kulusevkski and Bentancur for a full season rather than half a season from January - and our results improved a lot after they arrived. Just to illustrate that with some stats - Kulusevski got 5 goals and 8 assists for Spurs in that half season and he's already added 2 more assists this season, and his 10 assists in 2022 is already more than any other PL player this year. So every chance he gives us another 10 - 15 more goal involvements than last season, not to mention Bentancur who chipped in 4 assists in 6 months, so the pair could easily be adding some 20 extra goal involvements between them ...... !
looks like you will get your wish for some end of transfer window shenanigans!

I doubt it’s a smoke screen, it’s more so just the way Paratici operates. We see it over and over… he looks at like 10+ players for a single spot, sees what a deal would look like, and then picks the best option.

He is absolutely, 100% a better player than Daniel James. That's not a suggestion that we should actively pursue Adama, but if its a choice between the two (Like choosing whether to drink vomit or piss) then I'm taking the oily one.
Haha

I think I would prefer James. At least he works hard and is direct off the ball, just don’t give him the ball and let him run the channels

Neither can strike a football properly
