Honestly with how little time on the pitch Doherty is getting we should probably ship him out. I'd prefer Emerson to go but Conte seems to prefer the Brazilian. If we sign Carrasco then I don't see where Lucas fits in either as we'd have two back up players for both wings.

Agree re shipping out Doherty if we sign Carrasco.
Also, if we're keeping Spence in the squad as a HG (non-club) player, then we'll need to give him some match time to develop and to keep him motivated. Give him the chance to show he's learning from our coaches.
Carrasco is miles better than the other links. This would be a statement. That being said, watch the knobs on Spurs community like Trix etc jump on this and say how this was on their list but they couldn’t expose it. Watch the idiots on that forum lap it up too.

I think this is a similar situation to Traore. Conte’s football is based on very strict systems and repeated movements and patterns of play. Players like Adama and James have little guile but they are lightning fast and difficult to stop. If you can drill the patterns of play into them they may well be effective in Conte’s system.
If Conte thinks he can get more from James than he can from Gil then do it.
Unless either Doc, Emerson or both are gone, Carrasco doesn't make that much sense depth wise.

Conte doesn’t seem to like Rodon. If Tanganga stays then we are fine because he can cover Romero and Sanchez cover Dier.
I've read the Telegraph report, and it appears the plan is for Carrasco to be first choice RWB.
And I guess both him and Perisic being able to play either WF means that we have enough depth at WF despite losing Gil.
But surely this is the end of Doherty or Emerson's involvement in our season? 4 RWBs now.

From what I've seen of him (mostly CL, but also Belgium matches in tournaments over the years and a few big La Liga games) he really is a Conte player. Works hard, physically strong, his crossing ability is leagues ahead of someone like Emerson so we'd have genuine quality delivery from both flanks as well. And the versatility is great too.
I'm sure some other posters who watch more of the European leagues will know more, but Carrasco seems to fit the profile really perfectly. Working under someone as demanding as Simeone will have prepared him well, too.

Emerson seems so settled. Think it’d be tough to push him out now. Doherty makes the most sense but who’s gonna really come in for him?

Carrasco is a much better player than adama, James and all the other frogs linked to us. It would be great.
Yeah as much as I'm not an Emerson fan it seems very clear that Conte does like him. No idea who would come in for Doherty but he seems the obvious out option. No way can we end the window with Carrasco, Doherty, Emerson & Spence. Someone would have to make way.
