I agree.Look, if money is no object, the player looks a decent bet. If we announced a similar deal in the morning I'd be very excited. But spending big money on talented players doesn't cancel out all the variables down the line.
Naby Keita looked outstanding for RB Leipzig, and the dippers had to do a similar deal to the one the chavs have just done with Gvardiol - a big transfer fee for a player who stayed in Germany for a season.
Keita has not developed into a dominant PL CM and there are suggestions the dippers are now looking to get rid.
I suspect RBL told interested clubs "if you want Gvardiol, the price is 90m and he stays with us for a season". The chavs agreed to that structure, but no other club would.
I note there were rumours linking shitty to Gvardiol but, as with Cucurella, Guardiola / Begiristain didn't bite at that price.
