Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

was surprised he didnt give a few minutes to Doherty now with Emerson out for Saturday.

I assume he will start Persic on the right hence giving Sess minutes and Peri a rest. When he has to take off Peri around the 70 min mark on saturday we'll see if he favours what seems an out of sorts Doherty or Spence

I agree with you on the notion of swapping Conte to Poch would be really poor call.

I also do not care about this talk of "playing the Spurs way" or that we should be playing on the front-foot throughout the game or whatnot. I am okay with us playing effective and pragmatic football. And that was what we did in last month of last season.

But tell me honestly - if you look our last games -
Marseille 2:0 win - utterly toothless performance, only managed to break them down after being 11 against 10.
Sporting 0:2 loss - really fucking sluggish and poor game, Sporting played with lot more heart and got absolutely deserved win.
Leicester 6:2 win - in the end large score win... but in the 1st half we were absolute garbage. super lucky not to go on the break 3:1 or 4:1 behind. But lapse of concentration by Ndidi right after interval and brilliant Son hat-trick helped us to win it. But for 60 minutes of this game, Leicester had much better and more chances... and they sit on bottom of the table.
Scum 1:3 loss - another limp performance, first ~30 minutes there was only one team who turned up. And 2nd half... well... was our turn to have lapse of concentration (Lloris) and then Royal sealed our faith.
Frankfurt 0:0 draw- another limp performance when we lacked the cutting edge.

I am not sure what you see in this run. I see 5 poor perfomances in a row.
And there is no change being even tried. We still start with CM 2 of PEH and Benta, which means we try to find our attackers with hopeful hoofing of the ball from within our own side. We still have Royal starting as RWB even though he is 100% unable to make logical decision and execute it adequately in the final 3rd.
And to top it off - our NLD lineup, 100% of it in fact, was rewarded another start in following game, despite perofmance being poor all around. Where are we going with this? What signal does it send? How to those players feel that are arrogantly overlooked?

I am honestly afraid that already now, Conte is more obsessed with "being right" and "being the one who shows how things are done" more than he is with winning. And IF (and I hope it is not) this is true, I can give you guarantee that things will turn shit soon and he won't stay in charge until end of this season. Once more - I don't see us getting better manager now or in few months time. And I hope this is all just temporary issue. Just that I feel A LOT less optimism than I did in the end of August. Trend is worsening, and I don't see change in direction. Not even attempt to change anything. And it concerns me.
Great post really hit the target with those observations.
The team has not picked up it's form from the back end of last season and it's a worry.
The point about royale is good, but if a WB is fundamental to your system then why wasn't one purchased during the summer.
The team is massively miss firing, and luck more than anything has us still in third, but unless there is a sudden click then this is in for the season, and yes I can see him leaving especially as again he is mentioning about signings again.

with sporting we deserved a draw and yesterday we could have won easily if son and kane were more cinical.
the only bad performance was against Woolwich

Without Kulusevski, we’ve got no creativity or guile up front. Son and Richarlison are basically strikers, they need to be running onto balls not setting up chances.

Surely the sensible thing to do would be to go to a 352 with son/richy coming on, especially with no real attacking options on the bench.

Also, I feel for the midfielders - bentancur and PEH are being run into the ground whilst skipp and bissouma are sitting on the sidelines, what’s the point?!

I would get Poch back tomorrow. Conte exists to win trophies but it’s ugly as fuck to watch along the way. But he’s not going to win anything here so why persist with it all?

Poch might not win trophies either but at least we will have fun watching us again.
Managers like Mourinho and Conte are are not good for the sustainability of the football club.

Pochettino was our guy, unfortunately he was never backed with right players at the right time.

Levy has been and will always be the root of everything wrong with this football club.

I can understand some of the frustrations, some of the suggestions people are making just don't make sense though.

Why would he change either PEH or Benta for Skipp? Skipp hasn't played premier league football for 9 months. They have been the most consistent performers since then and are doing exactly what Conte is asking them to do. No manager would change them like that it's not logical.

I've stayed well away from the Arse match thread.
But for a Lloris fuck up and a stupid barely-red card we weren't bad. Once people realise we intentionally allow teams to have the ball in certain area's of the pitch the sooner they'll stop seeing it as being outplayed.
They scored a wordly. That happens. We came back, got the equaliser and were comfortable. Then Lloris spills one putting us behind and then the ref puts the game beyond us.

Fucking utter moron fans those who want Conte out. Hope we end up with fucking Sam Allardyce for you spoiled fucking cunts.
Big Sam is available on a free, but in all seriousness nobody is wanting Conte sacked.
The club has had so many set backs this would put us back even further.
I think the issue is that some are concerned that he might not stick around because of his nature.
I think now seeing how the team are struggling the scale of the job has shown there is quite a way to go.
Changing manager would just set the process back, which we can't afford to allow.

I don't think we were crap last night. Some of our moves were really good and I really enjoyed seeing the defenders playing high up. It's just that our attackers failed to do their job; all a nano-second late and/or wasteful. If we'd scored some of those goals, the lead up play would be getting more appreciation.

Anyone who said we didn't play well last night couldn't have watched the game. What we didn't do well was score. But that can happen. Sounds like the players know full well that it is their responsibility to put the ball in the net. All the words her from Son are good to hear.

I agree. It was a pretty enjoyable performance last night with a clear game plan. We just had an off night in front of goal which, as you say, can happen.

A draw away in Europe is not a bad result anyway - we move on.

We should win our two home games based on what I have seen of the group so far. When it was drawn I always thought the group had the possibility of being a close one, just because our away form in Europe is so utterly shit.

I think a lot of fans only think we play well when we win 5-0
There are plenty of them that thought we were great against Leicester for example, when in truth, we were pretty fucking awful for an hour.
