More complex than that: we were in the middle of financing a billion quid stadium while Liverpool went the cheaper route. Fundamentally, the standard for owners is UAE, Leicester (up to now) and Abramovich. FSG had a nice run but they'll be in Europa next season.
Yeah I think Liverpool will go back to a good top 4 club rather than title contenders.
That’s exactly why you need to cash in & strike whilst the irons hot! We didn’t & it’s a big chance we might not get again for many years. Liverpool made the most of it & got a title & CL.

He's not making a point to the board. That's opinion, not fact.

Conte is not a fucking child. It's FAR more likely that Spence isn't doing the business in training.

End of story.
Or conte knows he will only be here another year or 2 which is normal for him. So isn’t really interested in players he thinks are for the future (after he goes). Or they look crap in training as you said. I think Bissouma will gradually play more & more & be a starter by the end of the season.

If you were on here at the time, they were telling us poch was the problem. You’ll see now he has been sacked. They couldn’t have been more wrong as the following average at best seasons proved. In fact top 4 & CL final still hasn’t been beaten yet.

We haven't reached the heights of Poch's tenure because we are still recovering from the end of it (compounded by a couple of poor management decisions). While getting to the CL final in 2019 was a great boon for the club, it didn't show the true form at the time, as we lost 13 league games that season (the only time we've lost that many since 2008-09). The best years in Poch's tenure were at the beginning, when we had the strongest side we've ever had, at their prime, and very few of those players were signed by Poch. I'll give him some credit, as his tactics worked at that time, but he still didn't bring us the trophy and the true run for the title that the talent and play of the players deserved. His transfer record was poor at best. He was a failure at PSG, and he's been unemployed for a while now...so if he's sooo great, why is he sitting at home?

I didn’t say he is great. Still the best we had in a long time & achieved the best in a very long time here. I just find it odd people are so defensive over a chairman but have so much hate for our best manager in a very long time. Each to their own.

Every manager has failed at psg. Unless they win the CL it will be seen as failure & they all have been sacked in the end. Same with this new guy unless he wins the CL.

What do you think about signing no one that summer? Will you admit that it was awful from enic/levy? Or still defend it?
Your opening sentence says it all. Still blaming poch!
“We haven't reached the heights of Poch's tenure because we are still recovering from the end of it”
Good Grief! When do we finally stop blaming poch?!!! 2060?

Top 2 and Top 3 finish also - possibly never to be repeated baring another generational talent like Kane
& they look down on it & call it failure. Whilst praising enic & levy when we finish 6th & 7th. They tell you how easy it is to win a domestic cup when poch didn’t in a few seasons, yet say how hard it is for enic/levy having 20+ years.

Of course you can if you’re prepared to pay real money not pennies - all big clubs do it on a consistent basis.

The ongoing and categorically false suggestion by some ENIC apologists on here that they were simply no players available to improve horrible cloggers like Royale, Davies, Hojberg, Dier, ball playing mid, finally replace Dembele is laughable as much as it is absurd.

The most frustrating part is the fact we actually made CL and had (what so far has proven to be a hoax at best and criminal misrepresentation at worst) EXTRA 150m available and yet we’ve barely spent half of that and marginally improved the starting 11. My only hope is we’ve saved some of that for Jan after the WC but unlikely.
The bulk of ‘those cloggers’ like Hjolberg and Davies are seasoned internationals that play at the highest level of their sport.

Supporters of literally every club outside of Man City complain about lack of investment that makes them uncompetitive. THFC isn’t a vanity project. It’s a fucking business. Uncle Joe isn’t going lose/ spend millions just so some Internet forum guy gets to crow over his Woolwich supporting neighbor. One domestic trophy isn’t going to change the value of the club. When you accept that, you’ll get some perspective.

As for replacements, what LCB did we miss out on this off-season? Would be nice to get an answer here as we failed in 1000 pages on the transfer thread.

That’s exactly the problem
Shockingly, they’re all business people who own multi-billion pound, for profit businesses.
The days when the local club was run on the local millionaire’s largesse and footballers lived in terraced houses next door are long gone.
My suggestion? Deal with it and set your expectations accordingly, follow non-league football or cheer for City, Newcastle or PSG.

My expectations are to win trophies like our rivals do who are also owned by businessmen
