Matty Cash got a yellow for almost wrecking Doherty's career while Emerson got a straight red for barely touching Martinelli's ankle (a stupid tackle yes but not a dangerous one).

THIS.

(Also see yesterday's officiating wank-fest at The Emirates.)

yea that challenge was fucking disgusting. excessive force halfway up his knee, it was deliberate to take him out, utter scum! the refs are incompetent for not seeing how dangerous and deliberate that challenge was.

just glad hes back now and hopefully thats the end of his knee problem. we can blame that utter scumbag cash for having to suffer emerson this long! next time he plays us he deserves some serious abuse the scumbag

And then just compare that to Emerson's red. It really is a joke.

Premier League: 10 things to look out for this weekend

4) Doherty’s chance to regain Conte trust

Remember this game in early March? Frank Lampard does. “Lampard’s going down,” taunted the Tottenham support, jumping in two-footed on the Everton manager, whose team were hammered 5-0. To the Spurs crowd, Lampard will always be a villain due to his Chelsea connections. On a lower-profile level, Matt Doherty will remember this game: trusted by Antonio Conte at right wing-back, it was something of a turning point. Doherty was outstanding, providing two assists and revelling in the freedom to get forward. Conte would count on him thereafter – until a knee ligament tear ended his season in mid-April. Doherty has struggled to recover his levels from that purple patch, mainly for fitness reasons. But with Emerson Royal banned after his red card against Woolwich, Conte started Doherty in last Saturday’s win at Brighton, where he was solid. The manager could prefer Ivan Perisic on the right against Everton, which would be a blow to Doherty. What he craves is the opportunity to regain momentum. David Hytner

What's the deal with Doc? Why doesn't Conte trust him over Emerson. Am I missing something? Thought he looked pretty good the last time he played. Certainly miles better than Emerson.
Point of diminishing returns: Doherty is +30 years old, with a winding down contract (expires June 2024).

That, and Conte's substitution(s) tactics/patterns don't seem to consider maximizing squad participation and equity.

- A 5 month injury lay-off with a nasty injury?
- The fact that until his injury, Doh was first choice?
- Conte's comments in recent weeks?
- The fact that playing him 3 times in a week when he's fresh out of rehab would be v.stupid?

Yeh.... You're def. missing something.

How the fuck is all this going over so many heads on TFC? :mourcheeks:

Played like a big D swinger the last time he played. Miles better than Emerson despite whatever it is you pointed out.
