Trippier was an excellent player for us (only our stupidest fans wanted to get rid of him), that is exactly the type of signing we should be doing more of. Even a player like Doherty is better than Reguilon at double the price.

Save the big money for high profile signings, key signings and get a few home grown, PL proven lads to round out the squad. Having Dan Burn (and Trippier) in the team isn't doing Newcastle any harm. We could have got someone like Ben Mee on a free and it is impossible that he could be worse than Lenglet. We could have kept KWP and again, it is impossible that he could be worse than £25m Emerson.

Tim Sherwood is a moron but he was right about our club's strange obsession with foreign players over home grown talent. Just look at the mess we are in with our HG quota after buying so many shit foreign players in the last 5 years.
Couldn’t agree more! Said it in another post that there were plenty of PL players we could have gone in for but patrici/ conte looked overseas. Even Philips from Leeds would have been affordable. Mixed with some of the youngsters.a A midfield of Biss and Phillips would have looked good plus throw in benta , skipp and Sarr. PEH could have been moved on.
Still think under the right coach we could have a player in spence. However Conte has destroyed him for his own political gamesmanship. We have 3 rwbs at present and our looking for another. Surely someone in the club must be asking questions as to how we have end up in this scenario?

There was no "as if" and no I didn't suggest it was the "only reason"........ Just a comment pertinent to the overall convo,

FFS.... Stop putting words and increased emphasis in my mouth.

Take the cash aspect of it out of the equation altogether; shifting PEA & Luiz was still 2 valuable non-HG spots in the squad. That alone would be very useful to us right now.

Fact is; if you think Arse can afford to just blunder around and fuck up signing after signing like Chavs and City can then you're extremely mistaken.
You really need to check the meaning of context. You think everything shall be written, and that people can't make the correlation between your posts. You do this a lot on here.

You take Tomiyasu as an example, and then you backtrack from it. Why did you specifically mention Tomiyasu then?

Woolwich can't afford to blunder like Chelsea and City, sure, but they (like us) can afford to blunder once in a while to some extent, like they did with Emery. We don't even take the chance. THAT'S THE PROBLEM.

Walking the championship at the moment, will definitely want to manage them in the prem next season.

Has Pep's successor written all over him.

I'm super impressed with how he's completely changed Burnleys identity.
How the bell has he done that in such a short period of time in such a hard league? He has no experience yet in less than a season with a lot of players sold his completely turned round how they play. I remember Glenn when Swindon manager Git then playing some great stuff and he didn’t have top quality players. If kompany can donut in the champo surely an elite level coach on £15M can get us to play better football than we currently do? I bet if we played Burnley theyd out play us.

You take Tomiyasu as an example, and then you backtrack from it. Why did you specifically mention Tomiyasu then?

Merely as an example.... Could have just as easily picked another mid-price non-HG player.

I mean, we just got Bentancur for 16m.....

Woolwich can't afford to blunder like Chelsea and City, sure,

Which is as much as my pont has been all along, but you seem to have been fighting against it from the off.

However. People seem to have forgotten just how vilified Kronke was until a few months ago.

Indeed.

It won't last though...... On the strength of what we've just been saying; too many of their chins will go down at the first sign of adversity. The players should have been jazzed for this season... Ending last season on a high, treated like mega-stars in SK, return of CL football, worldcup to play for.... Not really seen any of that translate; even before the passing of Ventrone.

Nope. Too average for too long this season.

We are still in 2 cups so might as well stick with conte until the summer and then they can all make a decision.
And in the race for 4th upwards. All of this makes Levy’s re-involvement in drawn out transfers even more frustrating…..if we paid the 37M for Porro late Dec and had him 1st Jan, we could easily have another six points. The optics for the entire season would be entirely different

Fucking hell as if the mood around the club wasn't shit enough then we hear that we have Conte all-but-gone already and it's only January. What a shitshow, may as well get Mason in charge for the next few months because boring defensive football with uninspired players and manager is going to be fucking awful.

I think that was more understandable because Poch had openly declared (before the CL final) that he would rather not continue with us. The fire had gone out of his eyes after losing the CL and the only way to bring it back was to spend big on quality, which was never going to happen. The same thing is now happening to Conte. An opportunity has been wasted and now his passion has gone.
That's a blatant fucking falsehood. You are often wrong but I've never seen you willfully mischaracterize like this before. His take was clearly a "what more would I have to achieve" thing. And he was right.
