Romero certainly does, but with any defensive structure that is where any quality we have seems to end. All I know is we are conceding 2 goals a game on average with the low block back 5 - so something has to change as doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results - even if the Manager is wedded to a particular system - is the definition of insanity.
Agree, back 5 might be necessary until a starting cb comes in.
Romero's not had the best of seasons for us himself, if we're being honest.
System, tactics or formation, specifically?
At the end of the day; the team as a whole have a responsibility to defend and work when out of possession. What was working last season has stopped working...... I'd suggest the solution lies in working out why (not exposing illl-equipped individuals to even more work).
....Hugo crumbling before our eyes is a big factor too.

I think if we are hypothetically talking about playing back 4, it would have to be Royal-Romero-Dier-Davies OR Royal-Romero-Sanchez-Davies
Lenglet is SOOO slow and unaware of things, would be walked past in CB duo. Dier has mistake in him, granted. But just MAYBE he could organize the line to some extent ? Not sure but none of other alternatives are too appealing as well.

Still 3 at the back.
Still surrendering midfield.
Still limp performance, cause most don't give a fuck.

Not sure if Arteta has been given as much but he is telling his players the right things and organising them in a way we can only dream of at present, and getting 100% commitment.
