Can't both things be true? He inherited a lot of talent and he turned it into a top team. The team that chased the title was the best Spurs team I have ever seen, I remember the 1982 and 1987 teams but I think peak Poch was better.

If he came back he would have a fairly young group to work with, maybe he could do it again. There probably isn't as much to work with this time though.
I dont think we have an Eriksen or 27 yr old Lloris. But who's to say what he could do with Romero, Bissouma Kulusevski. He might love Alfie Devine or turn Udogie into a beast. I can say that no one towards the end of 13/14 after AVB and Sherwood thought we had this untapped mine of quality players. They were a disinterested rabble, much like today. We certainly have more depth now than then.

Who knows?
I have gone a bit Honest John Honest John though ... if any incoming manager is told the ceiling for transfers is £30 million, and mostly it will be around £15 million from relegated teams, then where we are now is about where we can ever reach.
I guess we might get top 4 playing a more attacking style in the best case, but without better players we aren't going to the next level.

Yea agree, we might get an improvement and better football but they'll always be a glass ceiling with that lot in charge. They will never push on when things are going ok, they only ever do anything productive when they're getting grief.

That pic always makes me chuckle. Daniel Levy's very own John Terry moment :roflmao:
Everyone be honest levy haters, poch haters, conte an jose fans boys how many loved that night? Something we’ve never experienced. Conte has not reached a final with any of his title winning teams and the money he had to spend. Even a qf or semi will do now but there will be the sane moment or enjoyment.

We need a manager like Redknapp or Martin Joel. Any around?

I don't think Poch is the answer. Any such reunions has failed in the PL and in life generally.

Why do some fans want Poch back? He had limited success then turned sour and was sacked. He had the best squad to win the league and CL, failed to win a cup. What is going to be different this time round when squad is weaker?
Fair points. I just want someone who I can believe in as our manager, who has heart, soul and character. Poch is one of those people. If he came back I'm not expecting everything to suddenly be all right but he plays the football we all love and want to see and who it felt had a genuine love of the club and fans.

It really feels that was the last time the club and fanbase felt united and its been bloody awful since that night...almost 4 years ago now. What a miserable fecking 4 years to be supporting this club.

At least some of the younger talent would get a chance, Conte seems to have a lower age limit in his teams.

Levy's backing of managers to help them go out the door sharpish is especially well illustrated by the total waste of space that was Lo Noshow. This Argentinian flop was Levy's way of saving a few mill on Bruno Fernandez. Why oh why does he keep repeating the same mistakes? Isn't that a sign of lunacy?

Going to have to find the balance how long would the love last if we are playing nice football but down in the bottom half of the league .I agree with others that reunions even with the best intentions rarely work out as hoped .

Ewwwwww..... Never go 'John Thomas'.

That's not been remotely the case for year now....... If it ever was. We had proverbial stadium austerity for a while, but 30m was worth much more back then.... Oh and we spent 40m on a player in 2017.

You give Levy NO credit for that night at all??

Well that's a surprise! (Not really)
