Stupid comment. Redknapp spent the money for sure but he was hardly in charge of the finances. If the money wasn’t their the money men shouldn’t give to to the manger to spend

Oh come on! Harry's got form.... Especially when you're factoring a naive chairman. He nearly repeated the trick in record time at QPR too!

Here is an interesting article about financial matters at Portsmouth F.C. around the time you are discussing.

What do you know about one of the people mentioned in this article?

To be fair, he gave us that win over Ajax. Which was one of the best nights of supporting Spurs I've ever had. Certainly a lot better than winning the League Cups in 2008 and 1999.

I can understand what he means by his statement.
It was also the circumstances in which he achieved it. And the way the match itself unfolded.
Absolutely remarkable and scenes I'll never forget until my dying day

Fulger was some form of legal advisor for Sugar whilst he was here.

Nope. I liked Redknapp as he won a trophy at Portsmouth. Incredible achievement. I don’t want some average manager at Spurs and didn’t want Potter either. Potter now at a big club and he’s a disaster. No thanks. Pochettino returning is the only option or a manager in the Gallardo mould. Not a pair of average managers with zero charisma.

Cooper isn't an average coach though is he.

He literally developed all the youth and coaching methods in the England youth teams which in turn helped them win the U17 World Cup. His coaching is widely admired within football. Revered for his work at Liverpool too.

It's starting to look like the Spurs job is a poisoned chalice. Where a section of Spurs fans want to see change, yet that change involves bringing back an old sacked manager instead of trying something new.

Let's stop pretending like we're something we're not. We need someone who is a great coach and can develop players. It doesn't have to be Cooper. And I'm not going to lose sleep if it isn't. But to pretend he's anything but a good coach or even a good choice is pretty poor.

Bit ridiculous seeing people try to write off both Poch and Redknapp who both did hugely credible jobs over several seasons each, and played football that was actually worth watching.

We were absolutely rotten when both took over. The Ramos shambles and the AVB-Sherwood shambles.

We’ve only very recently been considered one of the big boys in the PL, which is firmly down to both, due to that consistency and the CL runs.

Poch took us through the Wembley years, the nil activity transfer windows, and still managed to give us an echo of glory in the CL run and a top 4 finish with such a tired and broken squad. Bloody miracle worker.

Edit: … and some folk want the Forest manager? Like seriously?!

:pochshock:

Strawman-ing here fella... No-one's questioned Harry's work here.

Just pointing out that wanting him cos of his FA Cup win at Pompy and calling it "incredible" is a pretty dumb reason to want him at Spurs.

I don't mind saying that I was petrified about him taking over here... Thankfully we had a fun couple of years with him, but let's not pretend his own character didn't get the better of him in the end.

I don't think anyone has said that either!

Potter's win ratio in the Prem is shocking.

Brighton have kind of proved that their progress while Potter was at the helm had more to do with people behind the scenes who scout players and staff.

I also like Potter but only because he is fucking Chelsea up worse than Tuchel.

Pochettinos win ratios before joining us were 32% at Espanyol and getting sacked when rock bottom of La Liga and then 38% at Southampton...

What was Conte's Premier League win ratio before getting here? And you'll see what looking at win percentages in isolation tells you.

He really wouldn’t mate. What the hell has Steve Cooper achieved? Pochettino return any day over him
Where is this fucking crazy talk coming from? We are all down but this is just mad shit talk. The blokes done less the Scotty the streets Parker. There's not a cats chance in hell we are interested. This is click bait. Pep Guardiola told you all who the next manager was weeks ago. Why are you lot pretending otherwise?

It's Pochettino full stop out of work and in the country as is his whole bloody coaching staff...ergo no compensation. Two of Daniel Levy's favorite words. I have zero doubt he is assessing the squad as we write. Porro would have had his blessing and he probably is the reason permanent deals were not sort for Danjuma(attitude) or Gill( potential). Spence (raw materials)I've suddenly seen us linked to that Argentine shithouse keeper....it's Poch lads wake up.

Potter's teams struggle to score goals.

Nice and pretty but ineffective.

Chelsea are a car crash.

It's like the ENIC out stuff. People want something new but they are not really certain what it is that they want. But in regards to coaching they fall back on the "safe" option of Poch because he "will have us playing good football".

People want their cake and eat it too.

I understand that.

They're as cowardly as the guy they want out.
If Poch comes back I'll support him. But in general I am against managers going back. The second act is seldom as good as the first.

And it is usually better to look forward instead of backwards. When people try to go "back to the good old days" is when things start truly crumbling. That translates to society as a whole.
