Big names on the basis of the name is stupid. Woolwich only really fixed themselves when the big names like Abamayang, Ozil and the like got booted out.

Modern football is all about identity, the system and getting the right players with the right mentality to fit the system, it’s not so Hollywood anymore, more team and less individual.

I don’t think it is a shock that we have be happier with the likes of Jol and Poch than Jose and Conte. If Slot has the right system, the ability to develop young players into that system then his name doesn’t matter, he could be called turd but if he gets an FA Cup playing with style who gives a crap.
You don't need to be playing with style to win an FA cup. You can fluke your way to one. And I seriously hope that an FA Cup is not the ceiling of our ambitions. Whoever comes in should be putting together a team that will challenge for the league in 2-3 years time. If he wins a domestic cup along the way, great. But I don't want a manager that just wins us a cup. We may not have the resources of a City, United, or Chelsea, but we have enough that with a good manager who gets the best out of his players we can challenge at the top. Poch was able to do it with even fewer resources, so there's no reason why now that we have closed the financial gap we can't take that extra step.

People are probably worried because he is seen as "untested". And holding him not beating Jose in the Conference League final against him.

There's definitely a section of the fanbase that expects us to exclusively go for "big" names. Because that is apparently a sign of ambition.

I'd prefer Slot and allowing him to put together a plan for how to develop the team. He's great and has so much promise.
And Is an ‘attacking machine!’

If De Zerbi and Nagelsmann have doubts coming here then there's zero point trying to convince them. We should want the next manager to actually want to come here and not just take 15m a year and feel like they're doing us a favour in some way.

Leaning towards Slot now.

Agreed. If you want a dressing room of almost exclusively big egos then you need an environment that can handle that. Like Real with their Galacticos approach, or Bayern being FC Hollywood.

And most clubs cannot operate like that.

Indeed out of all the options, just give it to him. Give him plently of time and clear out all the older players inc Kane. though Levy may not want to pay the fee to Fenyoord.

intially would've bitin hand off for Nagelsmann but his seamingly clear disinterest in us and taking a break from football to the 180 turn and getting his cock out when Chelsea came calling has put me right off him

If Chavs do opt for Luis Enrique then Nagelsmann does become a realistic target. He’s not getting the Madrid gig, so it only really leaves PSG.

I actually think we would be a good option for him. His bollocks have barely dropped so he still has plenty of time to manage these super clubs. And even if it doesn’t work out, no one would hold it against him as almost all of our managers fail.

I just think most managers would have doubts about us right now. From the outside looking in, it all looks very messy. I wouldn’t turn my nose up at de zerbi or nagelsmann if they need a bit of convincing in the vision of the club.

I want the best man for the job, not the one who wants it the most.

The best man for the job though is likely to be the one who does actually want to be here. As long as they match the right profile too of course.
