So our new Chief Football Officer was on the opposite side from Ange Postecoglu in the Melbourne Derby, Postecoglu held various roles in the A-League and then the national team job during the decade Munn was CEO of the Melbourne Heart then Melbourne City once the sheikhs took over.

Postecoglu then took over City-owned Yokohama F. Marinos, and shortly thereafter Munn took on the role heading up CFG operations in China.

Long story short, the two are very familiar with each other.

I'm skeptical Munn has any meaningful control over the managerial search, but even so he's a voice in the room now, so I am now going to start treating Big Ange as a live possibility.

That would be fucking hilarious.

I don't think Pochettino has the personality for the biggest club in the world and this....

No Modric soon, Benzema or Kroos soon after.

No chance he will succeed in my opinion unless they get Mbappe and a n others of quality.

There are right times to take jobs and the wrong times.

Hasnt ancelotti said he’s staying next season too?

Unless they are going to bomb him out of course, you can never tell with that club.

Munn with experience working in sports clubs that have Sheik investment...

Levy having met with Qatar investment group about partial stake.

Complete coincidence I'm sure.

which one did Munn work with?

Edit: was City Football Group which is Qatar, no?
City is Abu Dhabi.

The new China-led detente between Saudi Arabia and Iran (which is the big regional rivalry underlying all these disputes) may play into this in the future. All the other Gulf monarchies hating Qatar isn't the hot issue it was 5 years ago.

I dunno, I guess in the absence of any other explanation whatsoever from the club, his involvement in linking together one of the big Middle Eastern club consortia isn't the most ridiculous connection to draw, who knows.
