Some posters stating we will become like Everton - I can see this but it’s the last 4 years and decisions from the top which are truely to blame.

No problems with Kane leaving for trophies and CL football, did his best with what he had to play with. Breaks my heart we had such an amazing team, identify and spirit only for Levy to make the worst decisions failing the football side of the business. I hope he’s ready for the downturn that’s coming - those years of enjoying the improved brand status and revenue that follows will be damaged for the coming years by a sub standard and difficult to market team with no Kane or Son.

I don’t like seeing our players boo’d but fans have had enough and it’s a reflection on the boards inability to get the footballing side right.

Glad the fans realise the board is to blame and the anger needs to be redirected to Levy and co. We struggled to get a manager in for 70+ days in 2021 and now no sensible one should come bear us - stuck with the same dross players who’ve seen off many of managers now. Hated his football and tactics but Conte was right with what he said.

I am sick and tired of watching these underperforming players who’ve proven they are not good enough, kept around or give. New deals because the club have an inability to sell or do so at a loss. It was bad planning, bad recruitment and a reluctance to pay that little bit more for quality to kick us on - they care more about the property portfolio.

I won’t be going again or paying a penny until changes are made. Pressure needs to be applied to Levy and the board that he steps down and lets proven football people run that side of the business and have a clear strategy and vision for success. Won’t invest? Then time to go and sell up. Refuse to do so, fans need to act, make them uncomfortable.

We are a banter club now that deserves much better decision making. Other clubs do it on far less budgets - but they don’t have a tone deaf egomaniac wanting to control all aspects.

20 years of performance? We weren’t better than Aston Villa or Newcastle around 2003.

Newcastle were a Champions League side early 2000s. Villa were another side which threatened to break top 4 under Martin O’Neill (I think Everton did it once, and Spurs finished 5th twice under Jol).

Watched the whole thing, I think he comes across as very defensive on some of the questions and ultimately paints a picture of himself that most of us assumed was the case, that it's his way or the highway.

Also that he is involved with pretty much every decision made at the club, he even essentially confirms that in the interview.

I don't think this interview comes across well for him, this is why he normally stays quiet I think.

Even people who are somewhat on the fence with him or defend him will find it hard to swallow some of the things he says here.

I just think it's time for new ideas but I don't think he has any intention whatsoever of stepping away or changing tact based on that interview.

Good post, and a lot of truths.

However, it is unfair to say that we haven't spent. Our Net Spend on transfers is higher than Liverpool and City over the last 5 years.

Since the ill fated transferless 18/19 window; we have spent over half a billion on the squad on transfer fees.

The problem is; we are buying the wrong players.

We needed a box to box DM who could replace Dembele - and we got a lazy entitled freeloader in Ndombele.

We needed a creative midfielder to set up our strikers to replace Eriksen - and we got Lo Celso, who has barely chalked up any assists in his career.

We needed to top CB to be a leader on the pitch and inspire the defence to replace Toby - and we got Romero who cares more about international football and acts like Spurs are beneath him.

We needed a Striker to rotate with Kane - and we got Jannsen / Bergjwin who for whatever reason the coaches didn't see fit to even give a chance.


BUT, in a positive spin.

I like Royal and think he will be a top player.
Skipp is getting better every game.
Danjuma looks like he could be a great impact sub.
Richarlison has all the tools to be a top striker in the EPL.
Bentencaur is a superstar.
Gil should develop into a good player.
We still have Bissouma / Udogie / Spence to come back!

They're some questionable positive spins all round but we can be almost certain that the club are not going to buy Danjuma.

Im avoiding the more toxic bits in this thread.

For people interested in some greatest hits of topics then minutes 12-17 has stuff you’d enjoy.

As a spoiler - he absolutely denies there have been any negotiations have taken place with anyone for the sake of the club over the past few months. He says the newspaper reports are completely false.

It’s worth reiterating how much of what you read about football is made up.

The only reason we havent dropped to midtable these past few seasons is because Kane guarentees you 20+ league goals a season and Son atleast 10. With Kane possibly leaving and Son past his best whos going to replace these goals?

Well, It depends really what quality we can attract for 3rd/4th choice striker. Kane, Son, Richarlison will always play centre forward ahead of him in the starting 11.

Can't judge a player on 1 performance, but against Bournemouth he looked like exactly what you want from an impact sub. High energy, motivated and effective. If he's happy to come and costs sub 20m; it's a no brainer.

"They have to find a manager that can deal with Daniel Levy!" he said. "The next manager that goes into Tottenham has to accept the situation at the club and, I wonder if the very top managers will. I’m not talking about money, I’m talking about the squad he will give to the next manager. Levy will say ‘that is the squad you will have this season, deal with it.’

"If Tottenham appoint a big manager, he will know after three training sessions that he needs better players. It is that simple. Some managers might think, ‘OK, I’m going to deal with Daniel Levy.’ Daniel Levy is a business guy, so that is the first thing the next manager of Tottenham needs to know."

When asked if he had any run-ins with Levy, Gallas said: "No, I had a good relationship with him. No problems at all."
