It wasn't perfect and certainly had the same deserved reputation as a managerial merry-go-round as we do now, but it's hard to overemphasize how much less of a shitshow Spurs were when Poch took over.

There was a project then. There is no project now. There's a reason no one can articulate any path forward, there just isn't one.

The club could announce LeParisien LeParisien as our new manager, with him waving around an underground ticket at the press conference saying it's the ticket to his dreams, and I would be like:

That's the thing, you're already starting to see the suggestion of a manager being a "bridge". A bridge to what?

The club's all time leading goalscorer has 12 months left on his contract. It's clear as day to see we're mid-table without him at best. We might be mid-table with them.

We won't be slagging off the job Conte did for long, I'm certain of that.

The one thing that makes me think Feyenoord played the media and Spurs fans is how quickly Slot came out the day after supposed talks from his agent about him leaving.

If there was a negotiation, why not leave Spurs to stew on the 20m and see if they come back and pay it before Slot rules himself out. Was veeeery quick.

Agreed .. where exactly were the negotiations? It just dead ended immediately… very suss.

20m on a player is not immediately 20m lost…. If the player flops then there’s the option to sell at a loss less than 100%
And if one’s not as hopeless as we’ve been in the transfer market there’s potential to even earn on your 20m spec

With a manager this isn’t the case (or at least very unlikely)

So it’s giving up a full liquid 20m straight up

This is not something I agree with on a relatively unproven manager and why your analogy doesn’t stand up
