My reading of this is slightly different.

I think what Kane actually wants is the culture that Poch created in his early years, and the progressive football that came with it. He's sick & tired of the uber-cautious approaches of post-Poch managers, and their MO of creating diviseness.

Eg Mourinho going after players. Conte never being preparet to commit to our club.

Both Kane & Mason have spoken of the critical importance of culture, and Poch said Kane & Mason were the Spurs players who most bought into & lived his philosophy.

Players interact most regularly with the Head Coach, not the DoF. So the culture is created by Head Coach, not the DoF.

With hindsight, what I think Rangnick was saying is not "I want the Spurs DoF job", but rather Spurs need a DoF with real power to oversee recruitment alongside the Head Coach, and get Levy entirely out of the process. In other words, Levy has to relinquish his power to interfere, and leave footballing decisions entirely up to the DoF & Head Coach.

In such circumstances, Kane would feel JN is a great coach, with the power none of this predecessors had to create & deliver a footballing culture & philsophy at Spurs. So I'll sign a highly lucrative contract, and not have to move my family.

Agree with all of that.

Kane and Nagelsmann would probably want the same thing. That same thing is probably Levy's only chance of success:

Appointing smart football people that see football in the same way as the history of this club and its fans, then getting out of the way to let them make the calls.

Is Levy capable of that? and has he already hired a mini me with Munn that will also want to making football decisions and fuck with football people?

Nagelsmann is right there in Germany doing nothing but watching cartoons and eating cornflakes. There should be no other candidates

He's as high profile and highly regarded like Jose and conte, but he plays attacking football unlike them, is young, improves players, likes a project and has big club/big league experience

I mean surely a club the size of spurs uses every bit of it's financial muscle to tie him down To a long term contract, take his advice and let him got on with it

The mind boggles at how this club is run, it really does
He is a Special K fan!

With the whole Rangnick interview too regarding Nagelsmann.

The best coach and the best fit for our club is right there and the only manager we have publicly said we are not in discussion with. Just doesn't make sense.

What is the point in having the best facilities, best stadium. For the club to be a laughing stock

Levy must be livid, he's built a stadium for 60,000 fans to boo him on a weekly basis all because of poor decisions made by the him and the rest of the clowns who don't know football.

What has been said does not necessarily mean what has been done or what will be done.

Would be very happy with Luis Enrique. Probably my first vote after Nagelsmann.

Spanish footballers and coaches don't tend to do well in Italy, it's a truism that gets cited over and over again here.

Didn't work out for LE at Roma in 2011-12. Interestingly Marca today reckon he's PSG's first choice. Don't think that would work out to be honest, he's very much a manager that fosters a group dynamic, a team builder. That would seem like the antithesis of PSG to me.

I agree with you, after Nagelsmann he's head and shoulders the best candidate. Him or Rogers? Do me a favour.

Let’s be practical, there are 3 possible those of manager out there ......out of work , ones still managing clubs with games ( now just 1 ) to play, ones involved in a Cup Final ( domestic or European). When Conte left would we have been able to appoint a manager who still had games left to play, I doubt that as no club would allow a manager to leave so late in the season. I know Levy sacked Jose a week before a final but let’s be honest he’s different to all other chairmen in his weird way. Would Brighton allow De Zerbi leave when they had a great chance to qualify for Europe, no way. The only ones who would come straight in would have been out of work ones , Enrique who I imagine was not really wanted , Poch the same . Nagelsman was not sacked but on gardening leave so he was top choice there could be some financial reason for waiting until the end of the season,
As it stands no fan has a clue about who Levy wants so let’s just wait and see, might be pleasantly surprised.

How could any fan have a clue when our Board probably doesn’t have a clue. We shall find out soon enuf about level of cluelessness. Hope I’m wrong. Meanwhile 62 days and counting.

And what’s the excuse for not hiring a DoF yet? DoFs have to wait until the end of the season too? — so they can plan a team’s next transfer window before they leave?

Not another chelsea cast off.
Fucking embarrassing that we keep lifting our skirts at their rejects. It’s not ended well for us with any of them.
Fuck that shit. I’d rather the Aussie/Greek fella from Scotland.
It’s a tough one that because chelscum have the highest turnover of ‘world class’ managers of any club.

Practically every leading club is going to have a chelscum cast off at some point
