Of course we don't want to see him leave, and I hope and expect he's been given the opportunity to sign a bumper new contract.
But if he is GOING to leave, it is the club's responsibility to put its best foot forward.
Kane leaving on a free would be a catastrophe.
I wouldn't go as far as to say a catastrophe.
It'll be tough, like it was when we lost our star man in Bale. Except with a bit more sentiment involved with Kane fully being one of our own, Roy of the Rovers type story that's seen him go from academy prospect to the clubs all time top goalscorer
But far from a catastrophe. If we lost him under Mourinho or a Conte, then it'd been horrible. Rigid style of play that focuses more on inviting teams onto us which has seen us rely far too much on Kane (and Son for that matter) to do their best.
What we can hope for is what Pochettino did for us and showed us life without Bale. A completely different style from the rigid style of AVB that saw us heavily reliant on our star man. Fast, high pressing and progressive football that allows fluidity between those in attack with goals coming from all over. So that when Kane does leave on a free, we've had 12 months of that and the ease of moving on beyond Kane is a lot smoother. Of course, replacing all those goals is tough, but it would be for absolutely any club that had their Premier League top goalscorer move on.
This season, we've had 30 goals from Kane, 10 from Son and the next top scorer after that is Bentancur with 5. When Kane moves on, we're likely not going to be getting a 30+ goal striker, they don't go on trees and they also don't tend to end up at Spurs. So we'd be grateful to get a striker who can get 18+ league goals with 10+ goals or so coming from one of our wide forwards (or both) and a creative minded player also to ease the burden.
