I still don’t get the negativity around Enrique. Out of what is available apart from Nagelsmann I’d take him all day long. He’s won as a player and a manager and had the balls to play with Barca after Real Madrid. His Spanish team were technically excellent and kept the ball but never had a top striker.

Celtic fan in peace.

Apologies, I couldn't help myself. Also I have alot of Spurs fan friends from London, so whilst not "worried" about your beautiful club taking our wonderful manager, I thought it apt to weigh in with a perspective.

Ange is NOT for you.

He knows it. We know it.

I'm pretty sure you guys know it.

And yes, Im fully expecting all the "wee club / backwater" pish that usually drips out of EPL fans, but I'd like to think Spurs fans are different, and if not, at least aware of their current circumstances.

Ange is not for you for the primary reason of TIME.
He won't get any.

Ange Postecoglous style of football, whilst not an anomaly to the EPL, is extremely specific. Currently, you do not have the players to perform for him. Including , but not limited to, your FB positions, wingers, and centre Mids. Ironically, your CB positions wouldn't bother him. (Thanks for CCV btw, literally the best CB we've had since VVD, and that's not an exaggeration, he's an absolute wall.).

If I may also say, your players don't have the requisite attitude to play for him.
He's a hard ass. Nothing less than 100% sees a player dropped and there's NEVER a complaint from Celtic players. They know the demands They know his mantra. They know his resolve. He demands absolute obedience to his "philosophy" and any notion of disharmony to his footballing ideals is usually met with the subs bench.
Forgive me for saying, but the current players at Tottenham don't exactly exude obedience, or indeed acquiescence to leadership.

Frankly speaking, Ange Postecoglou would need 8 months and a budget of at least 100m.

He's worked absolute wonders with us with a budget of under 40 in two windows. But that's because he knows the market he's shopping in.

With Spurs, you'd need at least DOUBLE that in ONE window, to at least give the Spurs fans some faith. Some proof of his ideas and to see the fruits of his labours.

The EPL is ruthless.

Now, on to the unfortunate truth.

At this moment in time, another Celtic manager is absolutely PERFECT for you.

Yep. Dickhead Rodgers.

And yes, he's a MASSIVE dickhead.

But what he also is, is one of the finest man managers in European football. He can take a squad on its knees and have it playing a great brand of football that blows oppositions away. He gives belief and purpose to players.

What he can't do is sign a fucking player to save his life.
He comes with baggage.

An entourage of halfwits who don't have a FUCKING CLUE what a player looks like.

I'm sure I don't need to go into specifics, as history reads itself quite well.

EVERY team he's managed have a two year "glory" period.
Then.. it's all downhill. He signs shite, keeps playing the shite, and then ends up defending or attacking same shite.

Make no mistake, he CANNOT be allowed to sign players.
A DoF who has the balls to tell him to stfu is essential.

It's literally why he jumped ship from us. The club let him sign nearly 15m worth of pish (real money in our "backwater") and decided to sign players that scouts recommended instead.
He's on record complaining about it.",I don't need anymore wingers" etc etc.

But, I digress.

Ange is not for you.

Rodgers is, but for two seasons MAX.

Then find a manager with an actual fucking plan to bring your club to where it should be.

A European FORCE.

Ta ta and goodbye.

Good luck to yas. Always had a wee soft spot.

Now fuck away off away from Big Ange ☺️

These are not the droids you’re looking for.

Enrque, no where near the top of my list but wouldnt be that mad at it. Though the club would have to sell everyone who can't pass under pressure

both goalkeepers
ben davies
eric dier
sanchez
tanganga
sessegnon? not entirely sure, seen so little of him really
skipp
See, I was never on the Enrique train but getting rid of those useless cloggers (save for Skipp and maybe Gentle Ben) would sell me on it.

Rodgers in the background is a sure fire way to make us relieved at any old appointment, keep that rumour circling and it’s a free pass

Brendan is lurking with a threatening aura like the Beetle from the Top Gear Botswana special.

I'm increasingly thinking we'll see the DFO hired first and then the coach. I can't fault the logic of doing it in that order. The summer transfer window opens (I think) in mid-June. So, I'm guessing a DFO within two week and then a manager hire in a month. I have no clue who the new coach will be. Every time speculation builds up around a particular name it fades just as fast. Now that Slot is off the board, it seems to open the way for Spurs to return to Nagelsmann once a new DFO is on board, with Potter or Enrique as a fall back. Still think Amorim is in the running because Spurs always seem to have ties through agents to Portugal. And he might actually be the best choice left on the board.
They will both be hired together or in quick succession. I doubt we will hire a DoF in 2 weeks and then start the search for the manager. It's more likely that we're looking at managers and floating the DoFs we're considering to them and vice versa until we find the combination that clicks. At that point we hire both of them.

I still don’t get the negativity around Enrique.
Reportedly seeking the kind of superclub project that Levy's Spurs never will be and wisely seem to have stopped promising. Even Chelsea balked at his demands.

Theoretically as far away tactically from our existing squad as any candidate.

Doesn't speak English from what I can find on Youtube.

It's hard to see what the fit would be.

Much less of that concern on a number of levels with Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann
Luis Enrique
Posty

Is my order. I'd be up for Luis Enrique for the football style and his fit with the players we currently have.

I get the questions about him as a long term appointment though but you never know, maybe he finds a home. He's nowhere near the level or prick that Jose and Conte are.

We don't have the players to play L Enrique tippy tappy football.

A lot of times in post match interviews, the prompts by the journalist aren't even in the form of questions at all!
Journalism has gotten so shit now. Not only contained to sport, but sport journos aren't the brightest of the journo bunch anyway. Generally they have their story outlined before the interview and then just ask leading questions to confirm what they've already decided to write and get the headline they want.

Not even in the same time-space continuum.

He's a VERY funny bloke, he used to do little video snippets for the Spain fans that were very self-effacing, really warm. I've seen him translate that style to English too and it works well.

He's also an "arm around the shoulder" type bloke, especially with younger players. Fiercely loyal to them. The team as a "band of brothers" (in Spanish it's "una piña" - a pineapple, in the sense of something really tight and compact).

There's not the faintest whiff of arrogance or narcissism about him. I don't get the dislike for him on here, I really don't, beyond Spain having an underwhelming World Cup

If it was to be him he would have been in the Spurs job by now. He has been free, fully rested, ready to get back into a job, has been seemingly making plenty of noises about wanting to manage in the PL. There were no obstacles to Levy appointing him, but here we are still without a manager and no sign that the situation will change anytime soon.

Spoke to an old friend from Uni. He’s a die-hard Celtic fan — the son of their ex-chairman — who never misses a game. This was his take on Ange and Rodgers:

‘I think BR will suit your lot better short term tbh. Ange is v take no prisoners full on and takes full committment which is ok against standard of SPL and was great initially in Champions League until we got found out and then teams just soaked up the 100 mph barage 1st 1/2 hour and came back and slowly (or not so slowly) dealt with us. BR was not too dis-similar but at least had a plan B but I prefer Ange's football, and he's learnt over the last season, and don't think BR learnt anything at all’

Agree. Its got to be someone thats currently managing and the season is still going. So we are looking at Pep, Inzaghi, or Ange

Again, on Enrique:

He has two CAREER seasons of senior club management without a Messi-Neymar-Suarez forward line (which totally pre-defines a style of play for better or worse), the most recent of which was 2013-14.

His Barcelona tenure was tactically defined by transitioning AWAY from Pep-style tiki taka.

His Spain tenure was tactically defined by transitioning back TOWARD Pep-style tiki taka.

We have no idea, and no way to have an idea, of what Enrique would want to do here.

Cry probably

I’d take him. Realistically apart from Nagelsmann he seems the best option.

Yeah, that's my fear too.
