Fabrizio Romano is suggesting - but claiming - that Luis Enrique maybe he holding out for the Spurs job. But, if Spurs are interested in him, why haven't they contacted him long before (he was out of a job since just after the WC)?

Fabrizio Romano says 53-year-old manager is holding out for the Spurs job

Luis Enrique is holding out for the Tottenham job according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, the journalist was discussing Spurs’ search for a new manager, and he says that the Spaniard is one to keep an eye on in this race to become the new manager of the north London club.

Romano did note that Enrique has held talks with Napoli, but the reporter stated that the ex-Barcelona boss has put that idea on hold as he is waiting for the chance to manage Tottenham.

Enrique waiting for Spurs (?)

Romano shared what he knows about the 53-year-old manager.

“I would keep an eye on Luis Enrique until the end, he has been in talks with Napoli, but he told Napoli that he is attracted by a Premier League option, so I feel that Luis Enrique is waiting for Tottenham now,” Romano said.
If this is true and Enrique is actually waiting for us and wants to be here, we should absolutely go for him.

The big problem with Postecoglou, just as it was with Slot, is that this squad will need tearing apart because it's not suited at all to these types of managers. Levy will not agree to this. Which leads us back to square one with no manager in place and time ticking away.

If Levy wants to maintain the majority of this squad then he has to go all out either for Potter but that will cause all sorts of angst amongst the fans who don't want another Chelsea reject, or Rodgers but again very few fan can stomach the thought of him taking over.

This is the mess the club is in.

Does not compute at Spurs. Cannot and will not ever, under any circumstances whatsoever while the little Napoleon holds the chairmanship.

Efforts to elide that reality are pure make-believe. The aesthetics of seriousness replacing the substance of seriousness.
Let's be fair, Spurs have a long term vision, but it's a corporate one. One that gives little weight to the reality that footballing success, above everything else, drives growth.

So we are all about maxing revenues through the new stadium, operating sustainably, and then promising that our spendthrift rivals will go bust or hit FFP buffers (we've heard this in various versions from Levy for years). But yes, nothing serious on how to build a successful football team.

Worse than that, I think Levy doesn't even really believe there is a vision or strategy that will bring success. He says stuff like 'spending money' (on players) doesn't guarantee success, and 'it's difficult to win'. He's seen a lot of 'football men' fail to bring success to Spurs: DoFs, managers, scouts, analysts, and rather than look in the mirror, prefers to conclude that 'it's difficult to win'. There's nothing more anyone could do. It's luck etc.

So I think you may be right if you are saying that all the rejigging is indeed not serious, not with any real intent or belief, and maybe even just a cynical way of trying to sell another bit of hope that 'this time it will be different' to the customers/fans.
