Rodgers dealt with Peter Lawwell who has reappeared more recently funnily enough. He was a major point of grief for fans and Rodgers. What I would say though is that our board have been known to be a ball ache to work with and it was thought to be a major reason why Rodgers wanted out, having fallen out with them over transfer funds previously. There has never been a hint of that from Ange, who has been backed but if anything, has been highly responsible with the clubs money.
Tottenham Hotspur should buy low to sell on? Are they wanting to be a top 6 feeder club? It's easier at a club like Celtic, but he has put in place an impressive trading model where players have been bought for low fees and then either developed or showcased, to be sold on for profits. Obvious in theory, and what almost every club aims to be doing, but not always successful in practice.
Are you mentioning that to balance the fact that's technically what he did at Celtic to beat a bunch of cloggers and a poor Rangers? Spent a fortune more than the others to just pip Rangers to the league? How many millions spent on Jota, Vickers, Johnston, Kyogo, Etc... That other teams couldn't come close up competing with.Take his work at Yokohama for example. He's come into that league as somebody who doesn't speak the language, doesn't know the culture yet has won the J-League within 2 seasons. It's important to note that Japan is a salary capped league, so it's not like he's just outspent the rest.
Listen, he's a good manager. I just don't think comparing what he's done previously relates to the size of the job at Spurs. He'll be a good manager probably for them, but if you expect he'll challenge for European places and cups, it's a step up too quickly to a team expecting that success. If it were middle to bottom finishing teams I'd say he's the type of guy you'd happily take a punt on. How he's become Spurs level really shows how toxic the job probably/maybe is to the elite managers.
