Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What I would say though is that our board have been known to be a ball ache to work with and it was thought to be a major reason why Rodgers wanted out, having fallen out with them over transfer funds previously. There has never been a hint of that from Ange, who has been backed but if anything, has been highly responsible with the clubs money.
Rodgers dealt with Peter Lawwell who has reappeared more recently funnily enough. He was a major point of grief for fans and Rodgers.
It's easier at a club like Celtic, but he has put in place an impressive trading model where players have been bought for low fees and then either developed or showcased, to be sold on for profits. Obvious in theory, and what almost every club aims to be doing, but not always successful in practice.
Tottenham Hotspur should buy low to sell on? Are they wanting to be a top 6 feeder club?
Take his work at Yokohama for example. He's come into that league as somebody who doesn't speak the language, doesn't know the culture yet has won the J-League within 2 seasons. It's important to note that Japan is a salary capped league, so it's not like he's just outspent the rest.
Are you mentioning that to balance the fact that's technically what he did at Celtic to beat a bunch of cloggers and a poor Rangers? Spent a fortune more than the others to just pip Rangers to the league? How many millions spent on Jota, Vickers, Johnston, Kyogo, Etc... That other teams couldn't come close up competing with.

Listen, he's a good manager. I just don't think comparing what he's done previously relates to the size of the job at Spurs. He'll be a good manager probably for them, but if you expect he'll challenge for European places and cups, it's a step up too quickly to a team expecting that success. If it were middle to bottom finishing teams I'd say he's the type of guy you'd happily take a punt on. How he's become Spurs level really shows how toxic the job probably/maybe is to the elite managers.

True. Some of the reactions have been embarrassing.
Bit like the Celtic fans before they appointed him? We have a right to be worried if he can become a success in the PL as without causing any disrespect it’s a huge jump coming from the Scottish PL to the English, if he is appointed I’ll get behind him , however it’s a huge risk from Levy but then we have tried the “world class” managers and look how that ended !

The #NoToAnge or whatever cringe trends kicked off on Twitter, maybe.

Not wanting a manager and making it clear, however, no. I think we’re at a point where it’s clear to everyone that Levy is clueless when it comes to football decisions. And he’s about to make another one of that kind, unless you think he’s wised overnight?

We have spent a fortune since the stadium opened, the line that Levy is cheap is outdated thinking that hasn't been true for years. We spend huge amounts on buying players and sacking managers. It's how it's being spent that is our issue.

Sessegnon - £30m
Ndombele - £50m
Lo Celso - £50m
Reguilon - £30m
Bergwijn - £25m
Romero - £50m
Emerson - £25m
Gil - £25m (plus Lamela)
Bissouma - £25m
Richarlison - £60m
Porro - £50m
Spence - £20m

Including cheaper players like Rodon, Doherty etc that's around £500m spent on players in 4 years. We are spending money, obscene amounts of money. We are just spending it on rubbish players. We are spending money that, with competent football people making decisions, would be more than enough to make us competitive. If you gave the football executives at City £500m to spend, I guarantee they would get multiple world class players with it.
I don’t think levy is cheap

I just think after 20 years it’s quite evident he’s not very good at his job

I think that judged over his entire tenure, Levy has been a good chairman. He has delivered fantastic facilities for the club, looked after the finances and delivered European football and decent league positions for most of the last 15 years. He has also put an end to us selling our best players to domestic rivals. Most chairmen have not delivered what he has. It's not easy to win trophies.

But in the new world of the super-wealthy PL, with the expectations that come with a £1bn stadium and a CL final appearance, he is clearly not capable of making football decisions at this level. But he knows this, that's why he has reinstated the DoF role and created a new Chief Football Officer role as well. I do believe that Levy is self-aware enough to know that his football decisions over the last 4 years have done terrible damage to the team. For me he has enough credit in the bank for an opportunity to correct his mistake and build a modern football operation.

But if he can't get it right this time, he should resign. Why should I pay him £1500 for a season ticket if he can't assemble a good team?

Bingo.

Once again the most sensible poster here.

I think some of the reactions have been embarrassing which you’ve basically agreed with and can’t really be argued against. Plenty, though, have articulated their concerns in reasonable way. Of course it’s a departure from our normal type of recruitment and also a risk - but the way some people have communicated that is ridiculous, and in many cases seems to have been with little knowledge about the guys experience or abilities.

Anyone watching the Celtic v ICT cup final should know that's EVERY Celtic game up here lol.

Ange Postecoglou is a hard man to please.
The Celtic boss has just thrown his arms up after Joe Hart took too long to roll the ball out. It's no wonder his team are so relentless.

Fucking love it 😍 so exciting.

You have to ask, will Postecoglou WANT to leave Celtic. He's loved, he's successful and currently the weather's better up there.

Time will tell.
