Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

At least you got a name that bears a passing resemblance to your understanding of football.

Fella. Nobody likes or respects you.

That includes everyone on here and who knows you in real life.

You’ve never been to a spurs game in your life. In fact, you’ve never been to a footie game at all.

You are a clueless, listless, jobless ragamuffin of a boy. Drifting through life, whilst achieving nothing.

You know this and it makes you mad. Your method of venting is to write absolute pure bollocks on a football forum, in the vain hope that you’ll be accepted.

I’ve got news for you. We don’t accept you. Keep on drifting, dreamer, coz this is not the place for you.

Also…suck my balls.

Could we buy the whole Celtic squad as well, get relegated, then prove how great the Scottish league is :wall:

Two of this season's top 4 are managed by a man who never managed in a top league until this season and another one got relegated as the manager of Bournemouth.

Nobody can say whether Ange will work or not but the way some people are behaving like it's utterly impossible is just daft. The best manager we've had in the PL era had only ever managed small clubs before. The second best one came from Portsmouth.

All this bollocks I'm hearing "we just want attacking football" well no. We need good results. Ossie was attacking and shipping goals to shit teams every week gets old fast.

This club has some of the highest revenues in football and the fans are now so beaten down, they are willing to take whatever coach levy finds in a fucking jumble sale because attacking.

Nagelsmann plays attacking football and was actually good enough to get the gig at Bayern, seemingly fired for non football reasons, a clash of egos. This is the ambitious appointment and we aren't even trying.

Celtic coach, because Levy is pals with some Aussie super agent. Are you really happy with this?

It’s the safer bet. You’re not set up for success at this club. It’s an incredibly hard job. Arteta had a horrendously bumpy ride on the road to 2nd & Howe has been set up for success. He’s overachieved but the framework is there.

Pochettino did a ridiculously good job, albeit lots of ingredients were there. But imo we are worse now than we were when Poch took over.

And again, we’d have sacked Arteta. If Ange has a similar tough start, he won’t last. Levy isn’t a patient man. Ange might be successful but he’s up against a cunt of a job and it’s going to be his first experience of a genuine top tier job. Good luck.

Shut up you clueless Pratt you have no idea what you're talking about, seriously you're such a clueless idiot it's almost laughable. like you think anything you have to say is seriously taken by anybody anywhere anytime in history.

People just think you're a complete clueless clown, that's because you really are a complete clueless clown.

You've never said anything that shows you have a clue about football and you're clearly an ill educated moron. In fact are you the antithesis of AI ie a real moron. Now the sun is going down so run off to bed to smack that poor excuse of clit between your legs.

here we go batman GIF

I don't disagree, we are in a serious mess. Ange will have to hit the ground running just to dispel some of the toxic fumes around the club. But luckily for him he will get to work with the best strike partnership in PL history. The bar is so low right now I'd be happy just to be able to win an away game once in a while.

If JN took the job and was moderately successful with us the media would be whoring him out to Barcelona or psg or whoever. His own crew probably will be too.
We need someone who is going to take job and not feel it’s a stepping stone out of here.( like conte).
Of all options left Posta is probably the least worse so he gets my vote.
Also does it not show a manger to be better by working with what he has. There is a lot of shit players left at our club and levy is not going to bin them off on the cheap. We aren’t city, united or Chelsea who are willing to write off “assets “

Rodgers dealt with Peter Lawwell who has reappeared more recently funnily enough. He was a major point of grief for fans and Rodgers.

Tottenham Hotspur should buy low to sell on? Are they wanting to be a top 6 feeder club?

Are you mentioning that to balance the fact that's technically what he did at Celtic to beat a bunch of cloggers and a poor Rangers? Spent a fortune more than the others to just pip Rangers to the league? How many millions spent on Jota, Vickers, Johnston, Kyogo, Etc... That other teams couldn't come close up competing with.

Listen, he's a good manager. I just don't think comparing what he's done previously relates to the size of the job at Spurs. He'll be a good manager probably for them, but if you expect he'll challenge for European places and cups, it's a step up too quickly to a team expecting that success. If it were middle to bottom finishing teams I'd say he's the type of guy you'd happily take a punt on. How he's become Spurs level really shows how toxic the job probably/maybe is to the elite managers.
The millions spent on the players you mentioned was balanced by the sales of Édouard, Ajer, Christie, etc. Net spend during his time at Celtic has been close to zero I think.

He had to spend money that first season in comparison to a settled Rangers side with little player turnover, as he barely had a team when he arrived. His first UCL qualifiers featured an academy CB pairing and a previously 3rd choice RB (who was the only RB left at the club). It was a significant rebuild.

As for the competition he faced, sure, it's the SPL. But the poor Rangers team you reference had won the league by 25 points the previous season plus reached a Europa final beating Dortmund over 2 legs his first year, so it's not like they were a complete joke.

At any rate, nothing he's done at any point in his career is going to convince people that he can step up to the Premier League. As an outsider, and trying to look at it objectively because I'd really rather he didn't leave Celtic, begrudgingly I think it's a good appointment for where this lot are at. Because even if he failed to win cups and qualify for top 4, both of which will be his aim, he'd at least set them on the path of A) playing attacking, exciting, high tempo football and B) unite players and supporters behind a common purpose. And Spurs would have some sort of identity beyond people thinking 'those cunts'd be fucked without Kane'.

Listen, I'm not going to argue the SPL is a far far shot from the Premiership, but I'd be genuinely interested in Celtic v Spurs stats in Europe since 2000 for win/draw/lost, all competitions. I don't think Ange is ready for a job like Spurs (at present), but to disrespect Celtic as if Spurs are world beaters, having won ONE trophy since 2000, is a bit unfair and ridiculous.

I'm a Celtic fan and signed up thru genuine interest in Spurs fans opinions seeing as it's our manager and as I'm not a Spurs fan, I'll be respectful of your forum. I'm giving my genuine opinion on his readiness for a team like yours, of which I think he's knocked it off to be considered so early and unexpectedly given his experience and achievements (which btw, have been very good, even if you turn your nose up at our league or Japan).

My opinion is he's more suited to a mid table Premiership outfit. That way he could build a team into his attacking philosophy without the added pressure of trying to stay in the top six.

Now, as I'm not a Spurs fan, I've no idea what the majority fanbase mindset is on your current standing in the footballing world. In Scotland where like anywhere outside England, there's lots of interest in all EPL matches and not one single team, Spurs aren't considered on the level of Liverpool, Man C, Man U, Chelsea and Woolwich. I say that not as a dig. A lot of football fans up here think the "team Kane plays for and the team Bale played for", before thinking of "top six" when thinking of Spurs. You're seen as a good team who've punched above your weight and were unlucky that one time in the Champions League.

Should the fanbase think you're a top six club, challenging for the title... I think Ange is a project pick that could see you struggle to make that so. His philosophy took a bit of time for players to adapt to up here, but he was lucky we were already stronger than other teams and I'll say it, Rangers were a mess and only won the season before because of Neil Lennon dropping the ball and COVID keeping fans away from stadiums, which played into Rangers hands. Their fans are pretty toxic with criticism, so the players had that off their backs. It was no shock they regressed the very next season and after very poor transfer activity, lost to Ange... Who spent well and far greater.

If your fanbase thinks getting into the top six is a bonus and you're playing to be in the top ten, maybe Ange will work out. His football can be a joy to watch, but he is stubborn in the formation and match management, which cost us in Europe. Plus injuries to key players have left us playing really bland football. Tho playing up against a ten man defence, as was the case today in the final, it's hard to break the lines.

Anyway, if he goes, he'll get more money, probably a bigger transfer kitty and the attraction of a better league. Spurs can be a decent team, but tbf, it's the league that's the attraction. I think Rodgers would be more suited to you. More experience definitely in the EPL and had success with a team nobody expected to win the league. Also has experience at a bigger side in Liverpool.

Edit:only to correct one misplaced word

If not them two then who Steven ? JN? Why would he? Why would we even want him? He has as much credibility as Rodger’s and ange.
I'd take a whole host of managers and that includes JN, I'd take a manger from a so called smaller team if they've overachieved but a prerequisite has to be experience in a big league and all the woes that comes with it.

I don't think Rodgers is as bad as people make out, he came close at Liverpool and has so many fans, his sniffing about PAs might be an issue....

What I don't want is a Gerrard..... Oh he won something in Scotland...... That league is ruined! Used to be good but the money from the CL made it so utterly competitive it's sadly become farcical. The only good thing in Scotland now is that teams can sell players to teams other than the old firm.

We need a manager with standards and experience at a good level and plays good football. Maybe the problem is that those who tick the box won't work with levy....
