Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If you're actually naive enough to think the only way bigoted refs give a team wins is by giving them penalties, then it's clear evidence you've never actually played the game at a serious level.

Last year Rangers made it to a European final ...emmm... no bad, eh, son!

How well has Angie's, the odds on fav for Spurs manager, team performed against Euro competition, eh!
Ah but I don't think that, there are plenty of other ways you benefit from favourable refereeing throughout a match. Penalties both for and against are merely the most glaringly obvious examples, season upon season.

As for European performance, yep you did well to reach that final. It all clicked for you. And then this year your team of shitebags followed it by having literally the worst UCL group stage in history. Zero points with the most goals conceded, ever! Congrats on the new world record!

:contefists:

Regardless, I'm sure we could argue all day about who is shitter in Europe. But how Celtic does against the Real Madrid's will have little bearing on whether Ange is or isn't a success at Spurs.

It's not a fair comparison though as managerial/tactical nous travels far better across leagues than players where there are clear and obvious differences in terms of abilities and levels; players and managers is not a like for like analogy so it doesn't really work.

My main concern here (as above) is whether the internal environment at Spurs is right for him and whether we are a good fit. Jose and Conte had/have brilliant CVs but they didn't work out in part because of the fit and internal politicking.
The comparison might not fair, but I was hinting at the levels of expectations Celtic fans have. It doesn’t seem very high, regardless of whether a manager can transfer his tactical ideas in better leagues or not. So they can think Postecoglou is exceptional, but then have another managers who will truly overachieve and they’ll move their standards up.

The squad he inherits at Tottenham will go along in how well he does.

I see where you are coming from but conversely you might argue it is very high as you are expected to win every game and multiple trophies every season. The difference is of course here he would be competing at a higher level against stronger opposition.

I think the biggest thing about Ange coming in is that he will want to be here and he will see it as a big opportunity a bit like Poch did, he said Yesterday he enjoyed the fact he came into Celtic at a time where a rebuild was required and he got to shape his own team, just like he will need to do at Spurs

A question I haven't heard asked is what impact hiring Postecoglou has on Kane returning? Or, is it an indication Kane has already told Levy he's going in a year?
Probably already answered, but the name of the manager will have nothing to do with Kane staying. It's what the manager brings to the table in terms of philosophy, vision, and personality to implement his philosophy and vision. If at the midway point of the season Spurs are playing beautiful football, constantly improving, and in the mix of things, that is what is going to matter, moreso than what the manager's name is.

Wasn't the new stadium supposed to see us as part of the elite and able to keep our 'cream of the crop' though? or were we sold a lie?
Not much point in us now bring the most profitable club in world football if we're gonna carrying on losing our best players to other clubs.
Since Bale, which player have we sold that we wanted to keep? Eriksen is one. Name another one in the pst 10 years (during which Chelsea, Pool, United have sold more players they wanted to keep than we did).

I'll wait...

Clearly didn't want to keep him if we sold him

Your wait is over. Kieran Trippier hasn't done too badly since we got rid of him, has he? It's not like we've improved in the right back dept since him, is it?

It’s ok having the stadium and a cheque book proven winning manager but the investment in players, DOF etc has to continue or we get the Jose Conte endings!

Obviously, I don't really know, but I guess the process will follow what happened at Celtic where a number of high profile players wanted away before Ange got there.

He simply said to them: this who I am, this is what I want to do here, this is what I think it will take, and this is what you will have to do to be part of it... do you want to be part of it?

Three or four players left, netting Celtic 30-40 mill and he started rebuilding the squad bringing in players who did share the vision and wanted to make the effort.

Different stage and far different level of player, but that's more or less what will happen.
Just don't think it is worth losing Harry Kane to get this guy, if that is what happens.

I'm not optimistic.
