Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Lucas Moura gave me (and most of you) one of the best memories following Spurs.

Ange gave me and my countrymen some of our best moments following the national team.

This is one appointment I really want to succeed.

1. It’ll mean THFC is playing better 2. Continues his F.U to all those he has to prove wrong everywhere he goes and 3. Shows that some of my countrymen do have something to offer world football and we can hopefully see more domestic investment in what is an afterthought sport in this country.

I don't think anyone wants him to fail. I just a lot of us suspect he's pissing in the wind before he even gets here and will be gone before the decs go up.

I'm a Celtic fan. This is the first time I've ever joined another team's forum. I certainly didn't when Brendan Rodgers joined Leicester, and I doubt I will again.

When Ange joined Celtic, the appointment was met with widespread derision and mockery - myself included. With hindsight, the only sane voices were those of Australian and Japanese fans telling us we were very wrong. I feel like I must now do the same.

Ange Postecoglou is seriously impressive, both as a person and as a coach.

The football we've played in the last two years has been the best I can remember, by some distance. Even with the trophies Rodgers won, and our European success under Martin O'Neill, he's the most talented manager I've seen in my 30 years at Celtic Park.

It's been such a joy to watch Celtic under Ange. He plays a very modern, very intense system, using inverted full backs in a fluid 4-3-3, with a very high tempo, creating overloads wherever possible. He also likes to keep the ball in play for as long as possible by taking quick throw ins and set pieces to tire the opposition into submission. It's rock-and-roll football that, when it finally clicks, blows teams away again and again. Not dissimilar to De Verbi or Pep. It's clear why the City Group have kept tabs on him for so long.

But he's not just a throwaway hipster tactician. He has a very old school presence, in the style of Sir Alex or Jock Stein. (Indeed one of his first major games as a manager was against Man Utd's treble-winning side in 2000. He is a lot more experienced than the insular UK press make out.) He doesn't take fools lightly and doesn't pander to the whims of the modern footballer. If you're not fully behind him you're out the door.

Despite the support's reservations, he got us onboard almost straight away, as much by the way he talks about football as the way he plays it. He'd be an elite leader in any industry, not just football. He has a presence that is just special. It's hard to put into words.

Football is unpredictable. It may well not work out at Spurs. But if it does work, I'm pretty confident that he'll have you competing in the top four and beyond by the second season. I genuinely believe he's one of the top five managers in world football. I've never come remotely close to saying that about any other Celtic manager.

Enjoy next season. It's going to be an incredible journey.

Yeah mate, that's my chief concern here; the state of football in Australia.

Glad we can be your country's guinea pig.

Poor appointment but it's almost done and now we can start planning for the next manag...I mean, season.

Good luck, Ange...

That seems to be the opinion of all the Celtic fans who have joined this forum.
Sorry that you’re probably going to be subjected to cries of ‘pub League’ football (and worse) from some of the morons on here. Thanks for your time.

I really hope our fans get behind him from day 1. He's a gamble, but the 'underwhelming' guys have a better track record than the 'elite' managers with us over the last 15 or so years.

Nuno was a completely shit appointment and it was obviously desperation (remember that it was July 1st we finally sealed it!). As much as we've seemingly bounced around managerial targets, with fan-favourites in Nagelsmann and Poch strangely ignored by the club apparently, it's really boiled down to an unsuccessful approach for Slot followed by a likely final choice in Big Ange. At least we're actually taking the 'attacking football' mantra seriously given the shortlist.

Defensive vulnerability is going to be tricky. Really hope we bring in much-needed upgrades in the back line to compensate. I remember Klopp's first season with Liverpool having some silly scorelines due to getting used to the gegenpressing. Serious relegation risk aside, there needs to be no itchy trigger finger from Levy and co.

Hi everyone, hope you’re doing well. Here’s a 5-minute video detailing everything you need to know about Ange Postecoglou for those interested. Took me a while to put together so I really hope you find it useful. Please do let me know your thoughts and I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have, cheers!

I echo that hope that he is given time by the board and by the fans. They’re not a manager out there that would instantly unite the fanbase unfortunately. Too many raving lunatics on the fringes for any decision to be widely accepted. Even getting Pep would have lead to “he only does it with unlimited money and he’s a bald fraud”.

So we are where we are. Looks likely it’ll be AP coming in, so let’s try to get behind the guy and trust he wants to be here and wants to be a success. And as importantly, support the players he puts on the field. This could very well work out for us.
