Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

All anyone has to go on is newspaper talk and social media, so what's your point? You really think they did a rigorous recruitment process and the decided yes Ange is the one to take over?
Yes, they did. They made a shortlist of 3-4 managers based on the criteria they wanted and who was attainable. Slot and Ange were on that list, by all accounts. Then Nagelsmann popped up out of nowhere, so he had to be considered too. They ended up with Ange. Job done.

It may not suit your narrative, but we didn't bumble our way to Ange. He was a target all along. An unexpected and more risky one, but a target nonetheless.

And now you know why. Low expectation manager whos just good enough to have an idea about coaching but not big enough that he’ll start demanding money for players

That's an odd headline considering we spent a significant amount under Conte. Just under £200,000,000. Without confirming Kulusevski and Porro final transfer figures.

I'm struggling to understand the optimism some have on here regarding Ange. Is it just relief that we've finally appointed someone? That it's not Brendan Rodgers?!

Maybe I'll be proven wrong but I think he's way out of his depth, this is the PL not some Mickey Mouse league in Scotland or Australia. I hope so I really do, glad I didn't renew though and Spurs won't be getting a single penny out of me whilst Levy and ENIC remain in charge.

We're one of the richest clubs in the world, wouldn't think it though.
I think some might believe he could offer us the chance to enjoy being a spurs fan again

We took the deal of accepting the mercenary managers with the trade of being successful

What we actually got was a soulless existence with acrimonious endings supported throughout with shit football and fuck all to show for it

If nothing else it’s a different direction and that alone gives me reason to cheer

It is believed Postecoglou has agreed a contract that could run for three years and that he has cost Tottenham less than £5million in compensation, with an announcement being prepared.

The biggest issue facing Postecoglou will be whether or not Harry Kane will be part of his squad, with Real Madrid joining Manchester United in the race to try to sign the striker.

Levy is understood to remain determined to keep Kane, who he values at over £100m, but Real are willing to test that resolve after losing Karim Benzema.

Telegraph Sport understands that senior players at Real believe Kane is the best candidate to replace Benzema, with the Spaniards also interested in Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez. A move for both Kane and Havertz has not been ruled out.

Kane has not signed an extension to his contract that will expire at the end of next season and is not expected to do so this summer.

While Spurs do not want to sell Kane, Postecoglou’s arrival is expected to precede a huge attempted clear-out as the club look to re-shape the first-team squad for the 57-year-old.

Tottenham are believed to be willing to let go as many as seven first-team players, led by captain Hugo Llloris and Ivan Perisic, in what could be a big summer of change.

The futures of Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon are also in doubt, while Spurs have decided not to sign Arnaut Danjuma, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the club, while Clement Lenglet may be allowed to return to Barcelona. Bids, should they be forthcoming, could also be listened to for Ben Davies or Eric Dier.

Tottenham’s disappointing campaign, in which they finished eighth and missed out on qualification for Europe, is understood to have prompted a will to clear out a number of players this summer.

On top of the first-team players who could be allowed to leave, Spurs will attempt to sell Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks, who spent last season out on loan, but have not made a decision on the future of midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Ndombele spent last season on loan at Napoli and made 30 league appearances as the Italian club won the Serie A title and sources have indicated that Postecoglou may wish to take a close look at him before a decision on the 26-year-old’s future is made.

Postecoglou permanently replaces Antonio Conte, who officially left Spurs on March 27, and becomes the latest man to try to end the club’s long trophy drought.

The previous 10 permanent managers hired by Levy have won 62 trophies between them, with only one of those - the 2008 League Cup under Juande Ramos - coming at Tottenham.

Postecoglou’s appointment takes that figure to 76, with the Australian winning 14 trophies in senior management across Celtic, Yokohama Marinos, the Australian national team, Brisbane Roar and South Melbourne.

Who's going to buy our garbage at Levy's inflated prices?
Spanners it’s not levy’s inflated prices

It’s the inflated wages levy gave them

These players are on a bloody good screw finishing mid table, topping up their insta playing for a top London premier league club

They’re not going to take a pay cut to roll out for fucking Wolfsburg or the like

We paid too much, are paying too much for absolute dross and these players know it

At least moura was quite open about ‘seeing out his contract’

i think people are getting carried away and might he shocked to know this may be an admission by Levy of lowering expectations and a return to mid table mediocrity. Dont expect big money being spent in the summer.

Ange’ highest level is the scottish league and before that it was journeyman leagues for a decade. Hes a journeyman manager. He will come to PL as his first job in elite football and there wont be much expectation. He wont be given any control over transfers. Hes essentially a league two coach who got gifted guaranteed trophies at a one club league in Celtic. Essentially its a league where the only opposition to Celtic is beating the previous Celtic managers record. A goldfish could win the league with them. So its all well and good making motivational speeches but Id like to see how that plays out when we are 3-0 down to Brentford, an opposition far more elite than any club hes faced in the scottish league.

If we were going down this route id have rather we pinched Sean Dyche someone that actually has proven premier league experience and has done his trade and can motivate players too.

But if it is Ange I wont hate on the man and wish him the best at Spurs, I just cant see it working out though
He won't be facing Brentford with Celtic's players, you know.

You do know that? Right?

Wow...is this really happening.
Some aussie bloke from the Scottish pub league....
Fuck you levy you parasite.....
I'm already bored of next season and it's nowhere near beginning....this fucking club

And it made sense to replace him with his assistant ? We finished in 8th anyway, we will never know where we could have finished if we let him finish his job. I'm not saying we needed to keep him beyond his contract but just to sack up because he was telling the truth as I saw it was foolish. People don't appreciate what a remarkable job he did in that first season to take a sack of midtable crap into the CL. We were even talked about as dark horses for the title at the beginning of the season!

Lol Good Lord 😂🤦‍♂️
