I'm struggling to understand the optimism some have on here regarding Ange. Is it just relief that we've finally appointed someone? That it's not Brendan Rodgers?!

Maybe I'll be proven wrong but I think he's way out of his depth, this is the PL not some Mickey Mouse league in Scotland or Australia. I hope so I really do, glad I didn't renew though and Spurs won't be getting a single penny out of me whilst Levy and ENIC remain in charge.

We're one of the richest clubs in the world, wouldn't think it though.

Aside from the potential of football that's bearable to watch, for me it's that it looks like there's actually a plan to this. Which may be proven naive of me, but we'll see.

Yes, he isn't the most obvious choice or even target. IIRC Levy's programme notes for the final home match promised to bring back the kind of football we love (or words to that effect). Combined with this being sorted in short order after the Scottish season ended, there's real reason to believe that he was always in the top 'a very small number' of the list if not at the very top.

Not chasing the biggest name, and instead going for someone with a specific skill set can only be a good thing. Whether our actual choice within those parameters turns out to be the business....well remains to be seen. As does whether we follow through with DoF and in the transfer market.

I have no real reason to believe, or not believe, that he's a good enough manager for the top end of the PL, but what it signals makes me hopeful.

You just won't fuck off, will you?

Wouldn’t Neil Lennon be a cheaper option ?
He also managed a clean sweep of trophies up there in jockland for Celtic. Rodgers also managed this. Steven Gerrard managed to go unbeaten for the entirety of his title winning season with Rangers.

Pretty much every video or thread on him says the striker needs to press like a maniac.

Richy seems much more suited to it than Kane. H is probably off this summer. Maybe they use the money for a rapid RWF that scores and backup striker like the Japanese striker from Celtic.

Kulusevski also seems better fit for advanced 8 so wouldn’t be the RWF for Postecoglou

Actually think Porro will be great as the inverted FB

Prerequisite for the job.

I do feel a bit sorry for Angie, because he's just stepping into a void no one else would touch and will be expected to work miracles..

I wouldn't feel sorry for him. Unlike Jose and Conte, Ange actually wants to be here.

Apart from Mason and possibly Poch, we can't say that about any other manager. I include Rodgers in that. He had a chance to come to Spurs years ago and thought he was too big for us and likely still thinks he is.
