Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He didn’t get the players he wanted though…. Missed out on key Barella and Bastoni, and instead made club signings like Spence

People counting Udogie and Spence as Conte signings are in denial.
Same way counting Romero as a Conte signing.

If you count up the actual amount given to Conte on players for him to use and divide it by the number of windows he was at the club, it was far from the level of ambition needed for an elite-level coach like that.

That times article links is with a load of players as does the Mirror. It’s pretty obvious we will have to invest in the squad for the new man.

Tottenham will back incoming manager Ange Postecoglou with funds to rival Newcastle for Leicester's England midfielder James Maddison, 26, and target Brentford's Spain goalkeeper David Raya, 27, and Wolves' English defender Max Kilman, 26. (Mirror)
That Frank Trimboli bloke that represents Ange also represents Maddison. Could work in our favour.

The point is the money was spent for Conte as he was the one is charge when we commited those fees, we can argue all day on whether he did or didn't want Spence or whether he was just playing politics with the board, at the end of the day he had the choice whether to use the player or not and he chose not to.

Your Udogie logic is hella weird as well, if you can't count the fee towards money spent for Conte than who was the £18m spent for, Ange? 😵‍💫

Again this is about choice...Conte chose not to stay at this club after we splashed out money on a player who fits his system, he was the one who fucked off, that doesn't mean that he shouldn't take his share of accountability on players who he didn't get work with.

Breaking...Football manager in not getting players they wanted shocker.

You will laugh when you find out who Klopp wanted as opposed to who Klopp didn't want for Liverpool...

Difference is that he made it work and continues to do so instead of throwing his toys out the pram.

Yes, it's only in comparison to the famine seasons as thw grpund was built that we spent heavily, not our presumed peers. Bet there will be a thumping underlying profit this year.

No idea how this pans out but at least its not an ex-Chelsea manager who gives the impression of doing us a favour. That's a plus straightaway.

Postecoglou should also have time to lay the seeds of his philosophy, and that is important I feel.

He needs to be backed, not just financially but also by the fans. I think sttaight talking and in your face is always one that suggests emotion.

He also seems to have needed little convincing and that speaks volumes.

Kane staying helps more than hinders. No point fluffing it for the sake of being positive, but if he is going to be allowed to leave, we need to be sure on cover. On that basis I think any Kane move only comes late in the summer if at all.

But essential is a decent start to the season whatever that looks like, and being Spurs, football the fans enjoy watching.

Winning is what matters but looking forward to watchinhg your team runs it a close second.

I do find it rather odd that fans were excited for Arne Slot, who has only been a coach for 3 years and has 1 trophy in the Erdiverse to his name.

And Nagelsmann. Coaching for 7 years, and 3 cups to his name - with Bayern Munich in a 1 team league.

I get the feeling that everyone is chasing the 'next big thing' - the next Pep.....and then ending up with Frank Lampard.

Udogie was sent straight on loan.
Conte never even met him but you want to count that as money spent on his squad?

Conte didn’t have a choice with Spence.

It’s not difficult.

Between the club and coach there was no alignment. That’s bad structure

I am willing to give Ange a chance even if he is possibly a fudge as the best we could get , rather than the best available. I think a fair few of us Levy is a plank posters are the same , however some of the Levy is a rock star crew talking about Ange as a massive coup , the real deal and we are lucky to have him are as usual just being ridiculous

Well, in one league you win by hard graft and effort. In the other you just have to spend more money than the others.

It's pretty much the kind of appointment I expected. Having thrown away all those millions on big names, he's realised he can save on a cheap option because the players aren't going to improve no matter who's in charge and he's not going to go on the lash this next TW.
Very disappointing and underwhelming appt...can't see any reason for HK to stay He'll be off to RM asap....
Plus....This manager has no PL experience.
I wish him luck but I'm not expecting a return to the top 4 anytime soon..
Out of all the Premier league managers only 10 had premier league experience before they got a job at their clubs. Only Eddie Howe had managed in the Premier league before out of any of the top 6 teams so that isn’t an argument about that.
We finished 11 points behind Newcastle who had an unbelievable season in everyone’s eyes. We had an absolute disaster. Ange will improve us. I’m very confident our home form will be much better and we’ll pick up more wins away too because we will put teams under so much more pressure and not sit back and let teams come at us.
I have every faith in this guy and even with these players just now we will be better. He adds 4 or 5 which will fit into his style of play then I don’t honestly see how we will not improve.

It's a new dawn, so feeling the muse this morning;

There once was an Aussie called Ange
Who always enjoyed a big challenge
When taking on Spurs,
Some fans piled in with slurs,
But he defiantly flicked his phalange

A sincere good luck to Mr Postecoglou; I'm a simple woman, he had me at 'attacking football '.
