Bentancur was a 6 for Juve I believe.

Ended up doing more forward work for us because none of our other CMs could do it. Hard to tell because we have only seen all of our CMs in double pivots.
From what I can tell both of Postecoglou's 8's are more 8/10 than b2b.

I don't think Bentancur has the physical presence to be a single pivot here... Esp. If the other 2 are particularly fwd orientated.

Bissouma and Sarr seem the most likely to have the skills to play in the 8. Hojberg is too limited in tight spaces, just not a great fit for a possession team.

Yeh; it wasn't an endorsement of PEH, just a reflection of what we have in ghe ranks. He's def. better off as a #8 though.

Kulu and Ndombele seem shout for the more advanced of the 8's maybe. Reckon we will def bring someone in for this role.

Also agree, 50m for Maddison doesn't make sense.

Lots of question marks tbh..... I think we may need something more dynamic than Kulu at RWFwd and that Porro is a quandary if we aren't playing him as WB or an attacking FB.

On the contrary; imo Skipp(*) is the only proper 6 we have and many here are deciding he's not good enough......

Biss, B'cur, Sarr(*) & PEH are all better of as #8s.

(*Maybe Sarr can be in time too, but that's not the player we bought; he was box 2 box.)

To me the main question is whether you play 2 of that list at once or if one of them needs to be a hybrid #8/10.

In which case step fwd, Kulu, Ndombele or some new bloke (preferably not Maddison as he'll be out injured all the time with that kind of workload).
Bissouma and Bentancur are both serviceable #6s IMO.

Seems to me like a perfectly reasonable pairing for a CM2/double-pivot/empty bucket, w/ Bissouma as the (more) holding of the two and Bentancur as the b2b/#8, but we've been Højbjerged for 3 years now.

Better than some make out.

Also 30, very high wages, not quick so not really suited to high line, has made a very bad habit of being accident prone in the Premier League.

International football can be a higher level tactically and often technically but prem is played at a relentless pace that requires faster decision-making and the ability to make good decisions at the limits of your fitness.

Is Maguire up to that level in the top end of the prem now?

He could go to a low block team, like West Ham or Everton and have a great season

You make some decent points as to why we shouldn’t be going anywhere near Maguire, who’s struggled to play bus park football, let alone high line football.

But international football is definitely not a higher level tactically or technically. It’s largely homogenous, predictable shite, coached by managers who can’t make it at top club level, or are in semi retirement.

YES!

International football has been utterly horrid for years. There's a reason no one has come calling for Southgate, not even us. Maguire "looks good" for England because about 80% of the games are in games that are the equivalent of premier league vs non league

I'd say it can be a higher level technically at the business end of a tournament because every player on the pitch is usually at a big club.

How many prem teams win 95% of the time against Argentina?

I dunno.... You tell me.

My point is that best int. v best club; EPL wins..... As do probably the top 10 European league teams at any given time.

Int. management is about making the best of what's available to you.... Domestic football is about building and cultivating a team by design.....

Not that worried by Porro or Udogie. Def not judging him as a defender based on the way he started his Spurs career.

Could see him pinging the ball all over the shop from that inverted FB spot.

Kulu used to be a 10 and looked decent there the last 2 games for Mason, even if we signed a faster RWF he's still a versatile attacking player to have. City's attackers often mix up the positions they start in.
