Can't believe we're getting linked to the likes of Maguire and Laporte now. They could have been signed for Conte last summer as CCB and LCB. They would both suit a strict counter attacking Conte back 3 much better than Ange's high pressing 4-3-3 where our defenders will need pace to cover transitions.
That being said, Laporte is still one of the best defenders on the ball in the world, and an obvious upgrade no matter what. We'd need another 1-2 defenders along with him though

Not for me. Everything is secondary to finding a set of good defenders. Levy and co should have their wages suspended until they've secured us a two quality and at least one decent backup CB and obviously a decent keeper. We can make do with an attack of Kane, Son, Kulu, Rich and Gil if we must but the backline is an urgent crisis.
To be honest, Romero seems the kind of cunt that will simply down tools and refuse to play unless he gets what he wants.

It'll have to be a back three with Porro and Udogie or dropping Maddison for PEH/Skipp so they can cover for them defensively.
