Yeah obviously. People have actually convinced themselves that if we finish mid-table Levy will put faith in him.

It’s beyond delusion now. Levy got rid of our most successful coach ever for being mid-table for all of 5 minutes.

Ange is under immediate pressure to succeed and anything less than being in or around the top 6 will cost him his job.

Good luck to the bloke.
And despite also being a punter, I fully agree with you on this.

Levy is the most deluded person associated with Spurs.

Do we really have to buy a left footed CB to play LCB?

Are there no top quality, right footed CBs that play LCB in a 4?
Not 100% need to but it gives your team a balance. It all depends what way the manager wants to play. A right footed left centre have is ideal if you are predominantly wanting to play into the middle of the pitch because he’ll naturally want to be on his stronger foot. Again it depends if a team want to press you aggressively and where they want him take it. That’s when teams can make it uncomfortable for him. If they don’t press it doesn’t really matter because he’ll have that extra second or two to get it on to his weaker foot and play.
I’ve saw big Tosin a good few times and he’s decent enough on his left. So is Ibanez and Neilson to be fair so isn’t a massive issue if they did sign and play left centre back. I think it’s just better to have a lefty for the balance.

People expecting him to suddenly change his nature are clutching badly at straws.

And I’m genuinely more optimistic about Ange than I was. I do like him in interviews, as meaningless as they are. And he does bring a sort of energy kick that we had at the start of Conte’s time in charge.

But I have very little faith in this ‘he’s got a 4 year contract, we will back him through thick & thin’ stuff. He will be under the same pressure as every big 6 coach faces.

I’m with this too. Ideally you go for a LCB but I’d rather have two right footers who are very good defenders than one left footed but he’s a bit crap ala Lenglet.

If the club can identify a genuinely very good left footed CB, great. But the list of obviously very good left footed centre backs in the sport is awfully short.

Right!

Makes a lot of sense to me. Left foot is best case but Tosin for example could get plenty of games on both sides.

Never seen Neilson but Ibanez is a bit scary for me. Not seen him loads but seen mistakes that give penalties.

Tosin being HG puts him ahead imo.

Then you just need a big time LCB signing

To be honest this has and should’ve been our highest priority from day one of refreshing the squad. Right now with no champions league guys like Bastoni,Hincape and Laporte are not feesible .

I’ve watched the Italian football more now because when Conte took over I was hoping that was the market we would go into when signing players. Ibanez is a very good defender and yes he can dive in but he was part of a Roma side that were hard to break down. They were 4th best defensively and only conceded 38 goals. Neilson reminds me of Chiriches as he’s good on the ball but not massively tall. Kind of like Kjaer at AC to.

With Danjuma and Lucas gone and other areas of the squad requiring more urgent attention I wonder if Gil will be in and around the squad for RW depth next season? Definitely one player you would think would benefit from a more front foot style of play.
Why? What has he done in any of his appearances for Spurs that make you think he can add anything?

Sell him to a Spanish club and buy a player who is PL standard. He's not gonna suddenly blow up and become the next Bale.

Dier 5.2% defensive duels won, how is that even possible? You'd think a defender could win more than that just by standing still.

If true, that is abysmal.
Cause he's utterly wank and I've been saying it every year since at least our first season at Wembley.
He's a catastrophe and when that catastrophe is the "leader" at the back, it's no wonder our defence is the football equivalent of watching the 3 fucking stooges.
