Can Barnes play on either side?

Only ever seen him on the left; which would't bode particularly well for Richy, Gil or the balance of the squad......

Lfwd: Son >>> Richy, Gil, Perisic + Barnes?
Rfwd: Kulu >>> Son ?????

Good question. Not sure, I have only seen him on the left, for me Richy is a striker who can play left but really should be up top so if we got Barnes and Maddison I would see in a 4-3-3 the below.

RW - Kulusevski - Maddison
ST - Kane - Richarlison
LW - Son - Barnes - Gil

Maddison I have seen play midfield, right wing and behind the striker so he is definitely versatile, Barnes has always been in the Son role every time I have seen him.

Thing is:

1. Richy needs more than just Kane's scraps or he'll rot.... Esp. with less games than usual this coming season. We bought him to tick either box; we really ought to use him as such.

2. Maddison (or alt.) is needed in the MF3, so we'd just be shunting issues around.

I'm not against it; just creates the need for even more squad churn IMO.

Pretty much signals we'd need to get rid of Gil (and Peri; but that needs to happen anyway) and buy another Rfwd and we've got more pressing business right now.

Agree.

Personally not against Perisic sticking around. Plays either wing, looked ok at LB for Croatia against Spain. Big time pro for the younger players.

No chance he's a starting 11 guy like he was for Conte but you could keep him and spend money better elsewhere.

Davies has that LB2 role sorted tbh....... Can't see a top pro like Peri wanting to waste his last few years being little more than a cheerleader and training cone.

As per OG post though.... I do think if Barnes can play either side he does become a far more worthwhile signing.
