I agree with being an upgrade.

Would imagine the club will get it done but for a slightly lower fee. Brentford have a replacement so would be silly for them to keep him against his will.
Move Perisic on and that’s 10M saved in wages next year. Just overpay whatever delta they deem to be value and get him in day 1 of pre season

Have we discussed Adama Traore yet?

Is this going to be the standard example of teams paying over the odds for goalkeepers then?

Because Chelsea paid €80m for Kepa.
There are two simple truths behind the £40m price tag:

1) We need the player more than Brentford need to sell him
2) We are not the only club interested in this player and if we don't pay what Brentford want another club will

£40m for a proven quality keeper that will hopefully last us for many seasons is a steal and more than comparable to the £12m we paid for Lloris a decade ago. I like this deal a lot more than the £16.5m we paid for Darren Bent in 2007 and it looks like much better value than the £60m we paid for Richarlison last summer.

Raya is the best option available and, to quote Jerry Maguire, "No one said winning was cheap".

Jumping out of this deal only makes sense if we have a keeper on the same level ready to come who is cheaper. Otherwise it’s just self inflicted damage. Goalkeeper is an incredibly important role, not something to half arse.

Lazio were reportedly keen on hiring Tottenham Hotspur scout Lorenzo Giani, but have now been deterred from making a move for the Italian on Fabio Paratici’s recommendation.

Maurizio Sarri is looking to restructure his backroom staff at Lazio and had earmarked two potential targets among the Tottenham scouting set-up.

According to Il Messaggero, relayed by Tutto Juve, Lazio were keen to poach both Leonardo Gabbanini and Lorenzo Giani from Tottenham Hotspur.

The pair were initially brought to the North London club by Fabio Paratici during his tenure as Director of Football at Spurs.

Paratici has since left the club in a wave of controversy after he was found guilty of being involved in Juventus’ financial scandal. The Italian was banned from world football for 30 months as a result of the capital gains trial.

Despite this, he is seemingly still having an influence on the sport, and in particular when it comes to Tottenham Hotspur.

Fabio Paratici

Paratici advised club against moving for Spurs man
According to the latest from Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, relayed by Lazio News 24, Paratici has told Lazio president Claudio Lotito not to make the move for Giani.

Apparently, Lotito has now “shelved the idea” of hiring the Spurs scout not long after the interest was first reported. It turns out Paratici had a conversation with Lotito that helped to change the latter’s mind on the hiring process.

Paratici is now a consultant at Sampdoria, in an unofficial capacity, and is also clearly giving out advice to others, too. It is not known what he told Lotito, but clearly the approach for Giani was not recommended.

Spurs Web Opinion

The situation surrounding Paratici is such a strange one. Surely, if he is banned from world football, he cannot be influencing the game at all, even as a consultant.

I would be curious to know why he recommended against approaching Giani, and whether it was on the basis of protecting Spurs from losing their scout.

If it’s true I’d do it.
My comment here got a laugh emoji from Shotgunofmichalebrow Shotgunofmichalebrow so I thought I’d elaborate.

Sonny has been a true legend of this club and an unreal player at times, but when we talk about this club having no clear strategy, any desire to “laugh” about significant offers for Sonny is part of the problem.

As a club we need to be laser focused on building a side in the next 2 years under Ange that we truly believe can challenge for honours in 25 onwards. Short-termism has caused so many of our problems over the last few years, it’s bled into managerial appointments, transfer strategy and it’s made us a club that basically has treadmilled in the 3-6 position.

Son was terrible last season, truly terrible. His inability to control and protect the ball under any sort of pressure massively contributed to our poor performances.

That might have been because of injury or the Conte system, but there’s more than a decent chance at his age and being so reliant on acceleration and off-ball running his best days are behind him. If he has another season like he did this year, we won’t get much for him next summer at all.

You hoped we had learned about cashing out at the right time as a club.

I’m not definitely saying we should sell Son, I think those that watch him in training need to decide that. But to think it’s a laughable concept is an indication of why this club has failed to move forward over the last 5 years.

Calm the fuck down. Raya will come eventually. We won’t start the season with Forster. Why shouldn’t Brentford try get top dollar for him. We would do the same with Kane. I don’t think we’ll pay £40 million. Probably more in the region of £30 million and then levy work his magic and we can pay it off over 30 years. 🤣

On June 12th, Türkiye Gazetesi reported Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson has received a ‘first serious offer’ from Tottenham Hotspur

The defender has a €25m clause and the Turkish club are insisting this figure to be paid to sanction his sale.

That’s according to Hürriyet, who state Tottenham have offered €3m less than the 24-year-old’s clause.

Last summer, Sevilla tried to take the centre-back but his employer convinced him to stay.
Galatasaray are unlikely to repeat it in this window because the Denmark international ‘wants to leave and go to’ Tottenham.

During a meeting with the club’s manager, Hürriyet say the player told them ‘let me go’, a year after he was convinced to continue at the club when Sevilla made an approach. He has also asked Galatasaray to ‘accept the offer’ made by Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham are said to have offered €22m for the Dane while Galatasaray are requesting for €25m to allow him to leave.

Nelsson is keen to join the Premier League side and the Istanbul club now have a decision to make on whether to accept their €22m bid or insist on getting €25m for him.

Not a single journalist has come out to back POK up so let's see if that happens first before everyone goes mad.

Looks there won't be a massive rebuild then. That's what happens when you buy poorly.

There will be a rebuild certainly. I suspect Levy beat you to it with his end of season statement 'This has been an immensely difficult season. We made footballing decisions over recent seasons based on ambition and a desire to bring success to our Club and they have not delivered what we had hoped. Your frustration has been understandable and all of us at club have shared it.

Lots of fans delighted at the time that Ndombele, Lo Celso and others joined but when they don't perform it affects the season's playing results and means other clubs are not keen on them either which constrains our ability to offload them and re-invest
