He's yet to exhibit that in this league.
True. But he excelled in CL which is at higher level than most PL games.
His main issue is injuries... which is why I've said we can't rely on him. I'm not claiming he will be our saviour, the question is whether it's worth selling him for a low fee.

He's already proven a comparatively contributor compared to GLC.

Fair enough, Ange gives him a run in training; but best option to start based on prev. hard evidence....? Hell no.
He's more talented than Hojbjerg and Skipp.

.......But if we bring JM in; that's even less reason to keep GLC.
I'd want Maddison to start out wide as RW in the 433.

GLC out @ 20m
JM in @40m

Would be a supoerb bit of business.
We will get Maddison for ~50 million if we do get him, not 40. Leicester current asking price is 60.

You do know that Pogba isn't their only client yeah?

And why are you worried about us getting fleeced if we have to sell him? It's the buying club that tend to foot that bill, if the agent is acting on their behalf. As I understand it, agents are only entitled to 10% of the transfer fee if they represent the buyer.
Raiola also represented Haaland in the transfer to shitty. Raiola's agency & Haaland's father shared £42 million in agent's fees.

Allegedly, they inserted a release clause of £128 millon after only two seasons into his contract.

In a world where Grealish is sold for £100m ,that's an invitation for the agent to make another fortune.

The player, Haaland, saying "No I want to stay at shitty" can stop any sale. But the Raiola MO is clear & transparent.

Haaland's Man City transfer almost DOUBLE £51m release clause after agent fees

Haaland's Man City release clause after Dortmund exit is £128m after two years

If we end up with Van de Ven and he's good, it's inevitable that we have issues keeping him in 2-3 years time. Basically as soon as he has adapted to the level and proven himself, they will be fishing for Bayern, Barca, Real etc.

Could still do it but going in eyes open.

I think that's already been suitably countered argued in one word: Ndombele.

You want another counter-point; PEH has delivered banger performances against Man City on more than one occasion.

His main issue is injuries... which is why I've said we can't rely on him. I'm not claiming he will be our saviour, the question is whether it's worth selling him for a low fee.

At this point you've found yourself saying he's our best option to be a starter (which is an even more elevated notion compared to your OG post!).... I strongly reject that idea.

...But if you're keen to reverse and retract; if we have a player that - as stands - you've deemed un-"reliable", that can be sold for a not insignificant amount of money; then keeping them would be folly.

He's more talented than Hojbjerg and Skipp.

Meh.... Tangible contribution > talent that is undelivered upon.

A less gifted PEH has pissed all over GLCs tenure... Exhibit: G&A record, availability, work-rate and the aforementioned big-game performances.

Still; sell both and that's 2/3s of Maddison & Scott funded..... Why on earth would we NOT do that if it was on the table?????

I'd want Maddison to start out wide as RW in the 433.

Hardly gonna deliver the pronounced width that AP is alleged to favour from his wide men.

...And they're dreaming.

EDIT: Yeh..... Another <20m MF worth a punt instead of GLC.... That Turkish lad.

Again, you're showing what the buying club had to pay.

If you're applying this to us buying VDV, then fair enough, we'll have to see if that's going to be the case.

But you were initially worried that he'd be off after 2 seasons to a bigger club. Well there's always that danger regardless of who the agent is. Bale, Modric and Berbatov weren't in the Raiola stable.

We have to be prepared regardless of who the agent is. Football has a high turnover rate anyway, so you need to have your contingency either already in the squad as understudy, or have him scouted well in advance so we can pull the trigger quicker and with more confidence.

Isn't this the case with any player? Always the risk he wants to leave down the line if he improves.

Circle of life innit.

Yes, a player who becomes elite with us may decide to move, but we got good money coming into the club for Modric, Bale, Berbatov.

But Pogba ran down his contract & moved to Juve for the second time on a free.

Same with Gianluigi Donnarumma, another prominent Raiola client, when he moved from Milan to PSG on a free.

At its simplest, I think signing a Raiola player is a much riskier proposition than signing a player who's not with a "super agent".

If we roll the dice and manage to sign van der Vet, I hope our lawyers can get as much protection for our club as possible , because any contract with a Raiola player is likely to be exploited to the nth degree by the agent.

Of course I would luv it if vdv the second signed, became the new Verts, and stayed with the famous Spurs for a decade.

It shouldn't take too much to find a player more reliable than GLC has been for us........

It's a pretty low bar..... Tielemans just went for free.... Xhaka 15m.... Jorginho 12m.

Alex Scott could be depended on to put in a shift; even if he's still developing.....

Ndombele has a couple of tasty CL performances on his CV too.....

Doesn't count for much when these lads are ghosting about or hiding away in the treatment room.

Kulu / Skipp / Biss
Kulu / Biss / Sarr

Take your pick...

If you prefer; slot on PEH somewhere; he's already proven a reliable contributor.

Add in a returning Bentancur & a likely Maddison to taste.

Respectfully; I think you fell short of exhibiting that
What a fucking boring load of drivel. You can edit or delete posts, hth

They haven't set a price? Where's the £60M come from then? I'm pretty sure this has been reported by numerous sources. One even quoted the sum and stated that we've offered half of that.

I make you right though, it is likely that it will drag on if Leicester have their hearts set on getting silly money.

But they've already been blown out by one suitor in Newcastle, and there appear to be no others showing much of an interest. You then have to factor in the player and where he wants to go if the price drops. We're in there early, he seems to want to come to Spurs, even when there was interest from Newcastle as well, we've already demonstrated to him that he's a first choice, so we've shown intent. Everyone else coming in, when the price goes down, is essentially throwing their hat in the ring to try and pick up a quality "addition" relatively cheaply.

That's my theory anyway, which could be wide of the mark.

Where they usually come from, made up by the papers
