I disagree. He’s too easily pressured into errors and his passing can be too sloppy at times. Very one footed and athletically he’s not nimble or adroit enough.

Disagree with all of those.

Had periods where he played really well as a 10 in the last 2-3 games for Mason. Has great balance and understanding of angles and changes of speed. Literally every game someone gets done by one touch and change of direction.

He needs consistency over 90min and every game but that's normal for a young player.

Much as we need strengthening in other areas of the pitch, and Maddison just being a start, a front four of Kane, Son, Kulusevski and Maddison is no joke if the leash finally comes off.

Romano coming for the tap-in, must be getting close :ange-arms:

Levy transfer written all over it. Has had a hard on for Maddison for a few windows now and loves Base.
Has all the hallmarks too with "leaks" that Ange wants him.

Could be Ange is also happy for it and it doesn't mean Maddison won't work out but let's get it established that Levy is still very much involved in transfer targets, despite all the noise about changes at the club.

I imagine he regrets rejecting Maddison back in 2016

He can play some very deft passes, but he’s hugely one footed, even more than Lamela. And it’s the fact that he closes off his body and is constantly drifting in one direction.

To play as our 10, he needs to develop his movement.

I like him, but I worry that he’s going to be one of those players that never quite fits.

Where did £100 million come from? Anyway , transfer fees are usually paid over the length of the contract which I never get, so if we buy Madison for £40million on a 5 year deal that’s £8million a year, or is there a sum paid upfront and the balance over 5 years. Anyone know exactly how it works?

On that basis, don’t we also have to put aside part of the transfer budget for the annual installments of other players that are still at the club?

Maybe, but he still works as a transfer on many levels. Firstly, his output has been amongst the best attacking midfielders in the PL in a rotting team. Secondly, he’s the kind of player that will help Kane score goals, be it from set pieces, through balls or crosses. Thirdly he’s a player that two of the best recruitment departments in the league wanted to sign, Woolwich before they got Odegaard, and Newcastle.

You just have to accept that when it comes to transfers of £50m or more of course Levy is gonna be involved. That’s a lot of money and he’s gonna want to make sure he can structure it to favour us as much as possible.
